Bleu De Chanel EDT vs EDP Perfume –

Posted on

If you are reading this article, I am pretty sure you are willing to buy Bleu De Chanel perfume, but you are confused about whether to buy the EDT or the EDP. There are many opinions about these two variants. Having the popularity that these perfumes have, the arguments about Bleu De Chanel EDT vs EDP  is quite expected.

So, let me present you a short comparison between the EDT and EDP so that you can decide on which one to get.

About Bleu De Chanel

Chanel came out with the EDT or Eau De Toilette back in 2010. This is the classic one from this line. After the huge response for the EDT, Chanel launched the EDP or Eau De Parfum in 2014. Later, they also added a parfum in the line of Bleu De Chanel.

Bleu De Chanel fragrances are one of the most hyped fragrances from Chanel. The first one of this line was an EDT, and after the massive success of that, they also launched EDP, following Parfum. Furthermore, the Bleu De Chanel line also has some other products like deodorant, roll-ons, shaving cream, moisturizer, etc.

This entire Bleu De Chanel line is very popular for men’s products. Whenever one thinks about high-end toiletries for men, Bleu De Chanel products surely come to mind.

Bleu De Chanel EDT vs EDP

As the name suggests, these fragrances are meant to provide a refreshing scent. All three variants come in a similar square bottle in deep blue color with a magnetic cap.

Fragrance

The fragrance of both Bleu De Chanel EDT and EDP is clean, refreshing, and sensual. It has a grapefruit scent in it. It has some citrusy and woody essence in it.

The grapefruit opening is more prominent in the EDT than the EDP. The EDP has a more powdery top note which might not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, the opening powdery smell does not last long, and the EDP dries down to a pleasant smell.

The EDT smells more refreshing and fruity. It is more vibrant and crisp. On the other hand, the EDP is more rich, intense, and darker. The EDT can be a good summer fragrance having a more refreshing kick to it. The EDP can be a good perfume for the year-round and for a special occasion or date night.

Concentration

By definition, we already know EDT and EDP differ for the concentration of pure perfume oil in the perfume. EDP has more pure perfume oil, where EDT has less. So, Bleu De Chanel EDT and EDP are no exception. EDP has more pure perfume oil concentration, and EDT has less. FYI, both are alcohol-based perfumes.

Ingredients

As EDPs are stronger and more concentrated than EDTs, usually, EDPs have more notes to provide the extra punch. Here we are sharing the notes used in both the perfumes so that it is easy for you to compare.

However, the ingredients are subject to change. Sometimes the ingredients change depending on the availability, or the perfumes get reformulated.

Bleu De Chanel EDT was reformulated, and many expressed their disappointment with the newer formula. I assume that they again changed it to match the original, or there was a problem with some batches. As later, the change was not noticeable.

Performance

Performance-wise different people have different expectations from a perfume. However, in general, most people, including myself, consider Bleu De Chanel EDP better at performing.

When it comes to performance, there are two things that can be considered. One is how long does the perfume last and projection.

Now, if we are considering lasting power, then obviously, EDP will last longer than EDT. While EDT lasts about 4 -6 hours, the EDP lasts for about 6 -8 hours.

The projection for the EDT stays put for about 3-4 hours. After that, it suddenly fades away. On the contrary, the EDP projects for about 4-5 hours. Unlike the EDT, the EDP dries down better, and you can still smell it after hours.

Cost

Compared to other perfumes, both of them are expensive. However, you are not just paying for the perfume itself; you are also paying for the brand value. So, you must consider that too.

Bleu De Chanel EDP costs more but performs better and lasts longer compared to the EDT.

However, for the price you will be paying, the performance is underwhelming. For this price, you can get other branded perfumes that last way longer.

Which one is better? Bleu De Chanel EDT or EDP?

By far, it is somewhat clear that EDP is better than EDT. However, none can be certain about it as the choice is respective. One might find the EDT better, while others might find EDP better.

If you are drawn more towards the grapefruit scent and do not care about the lasting power and want a refreshing crisp perfume – go for the Bleu De Chanel EDT.

If you want a perfume that can be used on different occasions and is more rich and intense, has a better dry down, and lasts a little longer, then you can choose Bleu De Chanel EDP.

In Closing

As I have already mentioned, there is no right and wrong when it comes to perfumes. It all depends on your preference. So, the argument on Bleu De Chanel EDT vs EDP is somewhat relative.

It is best to go to your nearest Chanel store, have a sniff of both, and decide which one to go for. Here’s a tip, do not buy immediately, try them separately. Let the perfumes settle for a few hours and observe the dry down and longevity, and then decide which one you should buy.
