0:00 AM: The Perfume That Made Time Stop For Me At Esxence
Fragrance Reviews

I was going through the fragrances I had already smelled before with Steve Martin Paris owner Yasir Alsafi, when I saw this enigmatic black cube that seemed new to me. It was indeed a new fragrance called 0:00 AM. What a mysterious title! I asked Yasir if I could smell it, and suddenly I couldn’t even hear what he was telling me, such was the trance I found myself in.

When I smelled 0:00 AM I felt like I was being transported to another place and time. All the buzz and mess of Esxence was far, far away. This scent was new to me, yet very familiar. It smelled like nothing else at the fair, but most important of all, it felt like magic. It is an intricate composition that at the time I felt was floral-woody, with a vintage vibe. It made me think of my adored Vison Noir, but 0:00 AM is different, and it has a luminosity that makes it very unique. It felt rich, elegant, sophisticated and the kind of perfume that was created not to impress through showoff, but rather to entrance with a kind of hypnotic effect. I was speechless. In fact, the next day, Yasir saw me and called me to his booth again because he had noticed the look on my face, and he wanted to gift me that bottle. I understand him very well. As a perfumer, I have seen this thing happen a couple times, and it’s the best gratification any perfumer can have: the sheer look of fascination in someone else’s face while smelling.

I came home with this treasure and started wearing it a lot. It makes me feel amazing! Actually I feel very identified with it, so it feels comfortable, but also it gives me glitzy vibes, sparkling sensations, and I feel very refined, for not only it is beautiful, but also complex and intellectual. From time to time, I get a different whiff from it that makes me stop what I am doing just to appreciate it more and more, again and again.

0:00 AM (I love the name) starts fresh and scintillating, opening to a floral heart that is unconventional through the use of important aromatic notes like clary sage, white thyme and coriander. They impart a touch of chypre texture to the florals, mainly orange blossom and jasmine, but there is also the spicy geranium that gives it an extra layer and a touch of androgyny. The base is a smooth and balanced mix of woody abstract notes, empowered by ambroxan with its airy, breezy, slightly mineral vibes. 0:00 AM is not a sillage monster, and I appreciate it. I am getting more and more bothered by super intense and intrusive scents, and I think this is one of those scents that can never go wrong in any possible context, while keeping its uniqueness and charm. I absolutely love it!
