04/2023 Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander Reveals The Cast Of The Hit Show Were Just ‘WORK MATES’
Jason Alexander says the Seinfeld cast were NEVER friends and were just ‘work mates’ who led ‘very different lives’
Seinfeld is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time.
And on Tuesday, Jason Alexander revealed that the cast weren’t actually as close as they appeared to be on screen.
The 60-year-old actor, who played George Costanza on the show, said he and his colleagues weren’t ‘social friends’ but just ‘work mates’.

During an appearance on The Project ahead of his Master of His Domain tour, Jason said the Seinfeld cast didn’t have much in common.
‘We were never social friends, we were work friends. We had very different lives,’ he said.
However, he did grow close to Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who played Elaine Benes, because they both had children at the same time.

‘But we really hung out with each other at the show. We were work mates,’ he added.
‘After nine years, when the show ended, we kind of went, “Oh, bye, see ya!”‘
According to Jason, the main cast members still send each other birthday emails, but they don’t catch up regularly.

‘But when we do see each other, it’s like no time has passed,’ he hastened to add.
The Seinfeld cast also included Jerry Seinfeld, portraying a fictionalised version of himself, and Michael Richards, who played oddball neighbour Cosmo Kramer.
The sitcom, which ran from 1989 to 1998 on NBC, was co-created by Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame.
