Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime has been a huge hit since its release in September 2022, and is a strong spin-off to the Cyberpunk 2077 game. It has brought back hype and excitement for CD Projekt Red’s franchise, which had previously died down. The anime brings a compelling new story with intriguing new characters, set in the familiar location of Night City.

Studio Trigger brought their own flair to make this a huge success with a stellar soundtrack and stunning visuals, yet the voice actors stood out and excelled in bringing their characters to life. David Martinez (Engish Dub): Voiced By Zach Aguilar
Mục lục
Other Notable Roles: Tanjiro Kamado (Demon Slayer)
As the main protagonist, David Martinez is the main focus of Edgerunners. He struggles to make ends meet at the beginning, yet through finding and installing the Sandevistan cyberware, he gains a new lease of life as he falls in with Maine’s crew. Zach Aguilar voices the determined David in the dub and has an impressive set of familiar roles to his name.
Aguilar’s most notable anime dub performances include Demon Slayer’s protagonist Tanjiro, Arthur Pendragon from Seven Deadly Sins, and the popular Genos from One Punch Man, to name just a few. He has also taken over as the voice of Fire Emblem’s Byleth in recent years, with his debut coming in 2017’s Fire Emblem Heroes. Aguilar’s voice will also be familiar to fans of Genshin Impact, as he voices Aether.

Katsuo Tanaka (English Dub): Voiced By Aleks Le
Other Notable Roles: Zenitsu Agatsuma (Demon Slayer)
Katsuo Tanaka is introduced at the beginning of Edgerunners as David Martinez’s bully, who ultimately motivates him to improve his dire situation, starting with installing the Sandevistan. Katsuo comes across as a stuck-up son of a rich father, and the polar opposite of David.
Katsuo may only be in a few episodes, but it is long enough to recognize the voice of Aleks Le. Demon Slayer’s Zenitsu is the most notable of Le’s other roles, but he has also been in lead roles for the dubs of Vinland Saga as Thorfinn and Dorohedoro as Caiman. He has also contributed to The Rising of the Shield Hero, Fallout 76, and so much more.

David Martinez (Japanese Audio): Voiced By Kenichiro Ohashi
Other Notable Roles: Native (My Hero Academia)
While the English voice of David Martinez is the talented Zach Aguilar, the Japanese version of the protagonist is another strong voice in the industry. Kenichiro Ohashi, also known as Kenn, may have had limited lines as Native in My Hero Academia, but he shines as Phantom Troupe member Phinks in Hunter X Hunter.
Additionally, Kenn has appeared in some episodes of Demon Slayer and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, as well as the larger role of Leopold Vermillion in Black Clover. Kenn is just one of several talented actors who make the original Japanese audio of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners just as enjoyable as the dub.
7
Dorio (English Dub): Voiced By Marie Westbrook
Other Notable Roles: Hanami (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Star Wars: The Old Republic is often overshadowed by other games in the overarching franchise, but there can be no denying that its lineup of voice actors was incredible. It took the best of the best, including Marie Westbrook. While not immediately recognizable, Westbrook has also voiced Hanami in the Jujutsu Kaisen dub, with the villain being remembered most for their iconic fight against Yuji and Todo.

Marie Westbrook also voices Dorio in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. She is the right hand to Maine and the muscular glue that holds the group together. Dorio is more than capable of holding her own in a fight, but unlike Maine, she can register and cater to other people’s emotions.

Lucyna Kushinada (Japanese Audio): Voiced By Aoi Yuki
Other Notable Roles: Tsuyu Asui (My Hero Academia)
Among a talented roster of Japanese voice actors for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Aoi Yuki stands out as the most recognizable. She has voiced major supporting roles in anime movies, such as Sayaka Natori in Your Name and Yuzuru Nishimiya in A Silent Voice.
The terrific performances don’t stop there, as she voices the lovable Froppy, aka Tsuyu Asui, in My Hero Academia, as well as Diane in Seven Deadly Sins and Yuuki in Sword Art Online. Aoi Yuki adds yet another strong performance to her resume in Edgerunners’ Lucy, the mysterious netrunner and love interest for David Martinez.
5
Falco (English Dub): Voiced By Matt Mercer
Other Notable Roles: Levi Ackerman (Attack On Titan)
Matthew Mercer voices Falco in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the crew’s driver who steps up as David’s friends begin dropping like flies. Falco doesn’t have the flashy fighting style or the over-the-top enhancements to rival everybody else’s, but he does have loyalty and integrity, making him extremely likable.
Mercer has been a faithful servant to the world of voice acting since the ’90s and is still landing great roles. He is the popular Dungeon Master for Critical Role and has an impressive resume of voice acting roles. Levi Ackerman from Attack on Titan and Jotaro Kujo from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure are undoubtedly his biggest in anime, but they are by no means the only ones.
4
Faraday (Japanese Audio): Voiced By Kazuhiko Inoue
Other Notable Roles: Kakashi Hatake (Naruto)
Not only does the English version of Edgerunners have the iconic Giancarlo Esposito voicing Faraday, but the Japanese counterpart is Kazuhiko Inoue. Inoue’s storied career in the industry stretches back to the 1970s, but arguably his most defining and recognizable role is Kakashi in the Naruto franchise.

This one role has transcended simply being in the Naruto series, moving through to the games and movies, as well as the later Shippuden and Boruto series. Kazuhiko Inoue also plays Darkness’ father Ignis Ford Dustiness in KonoSuba, albeit in a minor role compared to his commitments as Kakashi.
3
Jimmy Kurosaki (English Dub): Voiced By Kirk Thornton
Other Notable Roles: Tanjuro Kamado (Demon Slayer)
Jimmy Kurosaki is only in one episode of the anime, but his charisma and smarts as a renowned Braindance editor make him a memorable part of the show. He is a mysterious but genius techie, who holds one of the most unique and interesting pieces of ware in Edgerunners: the EMP-like Shock-n-Awe.
Kurosaki is voiced by Kirk Thornton, who has a long storied career in voice acting. His most recognizable anime roles include Klein in Sword Art Online, Jin in Samurai Champloo, and Tanjiro’s father Tanjuro in Demon Slayer. Thornton has also voiced Kingdom Hearts’ Saix and Shadow the Hedgehog, and worked on the likes of Arcane, Great Pretender, and The Last of Us.
2
Rebecca (Japanese Audio): Voiced By Tomoyo Kurosawa
Other Notable Roles: Ulti (One Piece)
Rebecca is a fan favorite character in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Her bubbly but chaotic personality initially appears intimidating but slowly turns into a powerful sense of loyalty towards David. This in turn endears her to the audience, even if her bloodlust scares off almost every other character in the show.
Tomoyo Kurosawa brings a strong performance as Rebecca and may be recognized for a few of her other roles. She voices main characters in Akudama Drive’s Sagishi and Kumiko Oumae from Sound! Euphonium, yet her voicing of Ulti in One Piece may be the most immediately recognizable of her previous performances. Ulti is one of the Tobiroppo and utilizes the Ryu Ryu no Mi Devil Fruit.
1
Faraday (English Dub): Voiced By Giancarlo Esposito
Other Notable Roles: Gus Fring (Breaking Bad)
Giancarlo Esposito is an iconic actor with a commanding presence that dominates any scene he is a part of. While his roles as Gus Fring from Breaking Bad, Stan Edgar from The Boys, and The Mandalorian’s Moff Gideon are perfect examples of this, his talent even stretches to voice acting.
Esposito once again steps up as the villain of the piece in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. He voices Faraday, a fixer in Night City with lofty ambitions that transcend his position as a middleman. Faraday’s strengths lie in cunning manipulation, but he lingers in the memory thanks to the creepy aesthetic of his cyberoptics and Giancarlo Esposito’s stellar delivery.
