FST Technical Services is seeking a QA/QC Lead for a 12+ month project at our client’s facility in the Albany, NY area.

The scope of this QA/QC Lead role is for base-build construction. The QA/QC Lead will be responsible for the implementation of the Owner’s quality control program, including the coordination, performance and execution of construction inspection services for the projects. The QA/QC Lead is responsible for assuring that the quality of the work meets or exceeds the project’s contractual requirements.

 

QA/QC Lead Responsibilities

  • Assist client in developing an industry leading QA/QC vision and strategy

  • Provide weekly QA/QC program updates to client’s management team

  • Lead, Manage and mentor the subcontractor’s Quality team members

  • Hold project teams accountable for quality control program requirements

  • Manage and Track Quality metrics

  • Provide code compliance knowledge and enforcement for both Owner and Subcontractor

  • Manage and Update QA/QC program requirements

  • Assist in review and development of project specifications for code compliance and constructability within industry standards

  • Assist and provide leadership in the development of robust QA/QC processes and standards to enable client’s successful project completion

  • Provide training of personnel to ensure awareness of quality procedures and specific responsibilities in the QA/QC process, including the interface and response to audits such as those conducted by the client or third parties (stakeholders supporting the project)

  • Develop, implement and manage the subcontractor Quality audit schedule

  • Manage Subcontractor’s QA/QC program to ensure it meets Owner’s contract requirements and all local/federal codes

  • Ensure that all personnel (Owner and Subcontractors) working on the project understands the code and specification requirements

  • Perform onsite field observation of installed work (e.g. concrete, structural steel, process and mechanical piping, electrical, etc.)

  • Recommend and implement corrective action based on policies, guidelines, and procedures

  • Record observations from job site inspections and complete inspection reports

  • Other duties as assigned by Company Management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in the management of quality control & quality assurance (QA/QC) programs for semiconductor or large industrial ($100M+) construction projects

  • Experience in personnel management, staffing and scheduling

  • Knowledge of International Building Codes and ASME codes

  • Experience in subcontractor, manufacturer and vendor management

  • Experience interpreting codes and specifications

  • Experience working with the Authority Having Jurisdiction to reach mutually agreeable solutions to technical issues or field issues

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Construction management (CM) certification or equal educational experience

  • Extensive knowledge of International Building Codes (all codes but with primary focus on Mechanical and Structural) and ability to interpret intent of Owner project Specifications. Extensive knowledge of ASME codes (B31.3 and B31.1)

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour construction safety training

  • Requires U.S. Citizenship and be able to pass a background/drug screen

  • Proficiency in various computer design and project scheduling softwares

  • Experience with construction practices involving semiconductor support facilities (CUB, Gas Pads, Chem Rooms, etc.)

  • Experience using MS Excel or related cost estimating software to develop cost estimates for change order negotiations

  • Some travel will be likely

Education and Experience Requirements

  • CMAA or PMP Certification or Bachelor’s Degree in Engin

    eering, Architectural or Construction Management PLUS

    10+ years General Construction experience

  • Minimum of 20 years General Construction work experience in lieu of a degree

  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification preferred

Skills and Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of general construction methods and construction codes

  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards

  • Ability to accurately read and interpret design documents (drawings and specifications)

  • Understands how to research and locate manufacturer’s product data and installation guidelines

  • Knowledge of building envelope construction and materials

  • Understands the requirements of fire rated construction requirements

  • Capable of successfully solving difficult contract and contract-related technical problems requiring excellent judgment
