Wear OS-based Galaxy Watches get Adidas Running integration via Google Assistant
A few months ago, Google announced some new features for Wear OS-based smartwatches. Those features included new Tiles for favorite contacts, sunrise time, and sunset time. It also brought voice command shortcuts for Adidas Running through Google Assistant. The feature is now rolling out to Samsung’s Wear OS-based Galaxy Watches.
Galaxy Watches can start run tracking through Google Assistant voice command for Adidas Running
Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series users can now ask Google Assistant through a voice command to start a run on Adidas, and it will start the Adidas Running app and initiate a run. Of course, users need to have the Adidas Running app installed on their smartwatch and have an existing account logged in. This feature makes it extremely easy for users to start a workout as they don’t have to open the app launcher and go through additional steps.
Google says that it is incredibly easy to implement Google Assistant integration through built-in intents. And fitness related apps can use APIs in Health Connect and Health services to easily create great workout experiences. So, we expect more fitness and health apps to bring such features in the future.
Together with Samsung, Google improved Wear OS by a huge margin. The Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic were the first smartwatches to run the improved Wear OS 3 operating system. Thanks to their collaboration, millions of Galaxy Watch users get a complete ecosystem of apps and services through Play Store, while Google gets more users on its platform that was struggling earlier.
