Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin just wrapped up his two-week vacation at the Maxx Royal Kemer Resort in Southern Turkey on Thursday. Now back in Moscow, Ovechkin’s first order of business will be to play for FC Dynamo Moscow in a friendly match against FC Amkal on Saturday.
Rumors began to surface earlier in the week that Ovechkin could play in a game for FC Dynamo Moscow. He made it official on Friday by signing a one-game contract with the club.

Ovechkin will wear number 3, the same number his father, Mikhail, wore when he played for the club.
Ovechkin learned hockey at the Dynamo Moscow club but cheers for Dynamo in other sports as well. His father, Mikhail, was a soccer player with Dynamo when he was younger. Ovechkin’s mother, Tatyana, was a basketball player with Dynamo, which was instrumental in how the couple met.
Ovechkin and his family have attended two FC Dynamo games since they returned to Moscow in May.
Given he and his parent’s long association with Dynamo, Ovechkin considers it important to support the Dynamo club. “What is there to say? Dynamo is my blood. I have a lot to do with this club,” Ovechkin told Match.tv.
The meeting between Dynamo and Amkal will take place tomorrow, June 25, at the VTB Arena stadium in Moscow. The match starts at 19:45 Moscow time.
