Alexander Ludwig celebrates being 5 years sober: ‘I was so lost’
Alexander Ludwig celebrated five years of sobriety over the weekend by sharing how “lost” and “scared” he felt before getting help.
“It’s pretty crazy to me that five years ago to the day, I was so lost, so confused and so scared about where my life would go,” the “Vikings” star, 30, said in a video shared via Instagram Sunday.
“All I knew was that I had an issue and a problem that needed to be fixed.”
The actor, who married Lauren Ludwig in 2021, continued to share a message of hope to others who may be dealing with substance abuse issues or for “anybody that needs to see this.”
“If you’re struggling, be brave enough to ask for help and take it from me, there really is hope at the end of the road, there really is a light at the end of the tunnel,” he added.

Alexander noted that the words he penned at the time were initially meant for his future son but, seeing that he and Lauren are expecting a daughter, it would now be intended for his little girl.

The couple announced in February that they were expecting a baby girl in May after suffering three miscarriages.
“It’s been a long road, and we wanted to wait until things were looking promising this time around,” a joint Instagram caption began, showcasing a photo of Lauren’s baby bump as Alexander rested his hands on her stomach.
“Thank you guys for all of the support. We couldn’t be more grateful. ❤️. Baby Ludwig coming May 2023.”
