Alexander Volkanovski Sends a “High Level” Message to Max Holloway as He Creates UFC Record Against Arnold Allen in Unanimous Decision Win
Max Holloway beat Arnold Allen in the featherweight main event at UFC Kansas City. This was Holloway’s first fight since losing his trilogy fight against Alexander Volkanovski. With the win, the 31-year-old has gotten back to winning ways and put an end to Allen’s undefeated UFC streak.
Max Holloway has been a top featherweight contender for many years now. The ‘Blessed’ one looked seemingly unstoppable until he ran into Alexander Volkanovski. Having lost three title fights against the ‘Great’ Volkanovski, Holloway has to earn another shot with high-profile wins like Allen.

Meanwhile, ‘Almighty’ Arnold Allen was trying to earn a spot in title contention with a win over the former champion. The Brit had put together an impressive 12-fight win streak before coming into Kansas City. 10 of those were in the UFC.

The UFC Kansas City main event was exactly the slugfest that many predicted it would be. Holloway and Allen went after each other with aggression and technique from the starting bell. While Allen had success with some of his sudden blitzes of aggression, the patient veteran in Holloway patiently picked his shots over the rounds.
Additionally, Holloway also became the first fighter in the UFC to land 3,000 significant strikes. Many fans and pros gave their reactions on social media and congratulated Holloway for the win.
Holloway’s win was a statement for anyone who doubted his ability in the octagon. Coming into the fight, many doubted if the Hawaiian still had the skills for elite competition and if his chin could hold up well.

Not only did Holloway take the best of what Allen offered but also landed his own shots. In arguably the most damaging exchange in the fight, Holloway dropped Allen in the final seconds of the fight, after landing multiple clean shots to his chin despite comfortably taking an elbow to his own.

With the win, Holloway has asserted his position at the top of the featherweight rankings. However, he will have to wait for Volkanovski and interim champion Yair Rodriguez‘s title fight to get a better look at the title landscape.
