Allure Homme Edition Blanche Eau de Parfum Chanel cologne – a fragrance for men 2014
Freedom of choice is a right for all, but only some exercise it with elegance.
(Honoré de Balzac)
Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel was born into a humble family in 1883. After the early death of her mother, she and her sisters were sent by her father to the convent of Aubazine, where she learned the art of dressmaking.
Elegance could also mean comfort and Coco Chanel offered the world a new feminine model that would prevail over the years: that of a dynamic, hard-working woman who could no longer recognise herself in the tight, limiting clothes of the Belle Époque.
Coco Chanel changed the way of being a woman in society and has the recognition of being one of the designers who created the mould of the work clothes worn by women. It is not news that Chanel always encouraged female freedom and used the design of her clothes to accentuate her libertarian spirit. The fashion world is also a place of affirmation and renewal!
At the same time, she is recognised as the queen of the ‘genre pauvre’ and argued that luxury is not the opposite of poverty, but a way to fight against vulgarity. For her, simplicity could also be chic and refined.
According to Coco Chanel, perfume is a basic and unforgettable accessory that allows us to relive memories. During the Second World War, the designer’s Parisian atelier was closed. However, her shop on Rue Cambon remained open. Chanel’s fame and the originality of her perfumes so justified it. First German officers, then American officers, lined up outside the shop to send a small bottle of No. 5 to their distant loved ones. Chanel was Paris.
Allure Homme Édition Blanche EDP is a masterpiece authored by Chanel’s most iconic perfumer, Jacques Polge. It is classified as both Amber Woody and Citrusy Fresh. Chanel labels it as an ambary and fresh Eau De Parfum, aimed at an elegant, modern and objective man, having chosen Pierce Brosnan as one of their male models.
The perfume is undeniably fresh, but the initial onslaught of spicy citrus quickly drifts into a creamy, smooth lemon meringue with hints of vanilla. This lemon dessert gradually takes on a more woody, amber creaminess. It seems to me that the note of cashmere wood is used. However, it is not listed. Surely one detects sandalwood, open and luminous vetiver. as well as a slight sweetness that I attribute to a light note of tonka, amplified by vanilla.
The global scent is heavenly but performance is a bit on the low side. On the other hand, its uniqueness is remarkable and this perfume can only be compared to its discontinued predecessor, Allure Homme Édition Blanche EDT Concentrée.
Quoting Coco Chanel: “If you wear a bad perfume, they will notice the smell. If you wear a good perfume, they will notice the person”. I think she just anticipated an opinion about this perfume.
My opinion: This perfume is a statement of masculine elegance, adapting to various types of men and different environments because of its versatility.
A blind purchase is only not justified by its cost which I think is a bit excessive.
