Anne Hathaway’s Iconic Chanel Blazer in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Is on Farfetch
Attention all The Devil Wears Prada fans: Any Sachs’ Chanel blazer is currently on sale — you know which one we’re talking about. The double-breasted black blazer with crest over the chest that she wore post-makeover is currently on Farfetch’s pre-owned site. (Go shop, then thank us later.)
The scene is one fans know all too well. After having a heart-to-heart with Nigel (played by Stanley Tucci), Sachs parades into the office in a series of stunning new outfits in a fashionable transformation montage. Out of all the looks, however, it was the Chanel moment that finally caught her ice queen coworker, Emily’s (played by Emily Blunt) attention.
A decade and a half later, the look still makes for a show-stopping ensemble. Not to mention, Halloween is right around the corner. If you’re in the market for a costume that you can also wear IRL, this is just the thing.
Of course, a jacket with such a fantastic back story does come with a hefty price tag. The vintage 2005 Chanel Camélia double-breasted wool jacket will cost you $9,978, but it’s worth it to own a piece of fashion cinema history, if we do say so ourselves. Thanks to a Twitter user, there’s also the same blazer in a single-breast iteration available on the luxury consignment site, The RealReal.
Earlier this year, Hathaway revealed her favorite look from the film during an Interview Magazine conversation with Michael Kors.
When asked which was her favorite look she answered, “It’s a chicken-and-egg question, because what I think of as my style is so influenced by getting to work with Patricia Field and having conversations with her about how to put outfits together. But I love what I wore to the James Hoult party, that velvet Chanel coat that went to the knees, and then the miniskirt and the stockings and the slouched boots. I think it was a sample because I kept finding straight pins in it.”
Hathaway shared photos of the looks on Instagram writing, “My favorite outfit as revealed to Michael Kors in Interview Magazine! Happy Anniversary to #TheDevilWearsPrada, with special love to the amazing @patriciafield! She put us in the most incredible, iconic, and joyful costumes, which somehow keep serving 16 years later. That’s magic.”
