PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KABC) — Arnie Klein, Michael Jackson’s dermatologist, died of natural causes Thursday night at a hospital in Palm Springs, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He was 70.
Klein was considered the father of modern cosmetic dermatology and developed modern injection techniques for Botox, Collagen and Restylane.
In addition to Jackson, Klein’s patients also included Elizabeth Taylor, Dolly Parton and Carrie Fisher.
Klein called Jackson his best friend and treated him for more than 25 years before the pop star’s death in 2009.
Following Jackson’s death, Klein was sued by the singer’s former assistant, Jason Pfeiffer, for wrongful termination, hour and wage violations and sexual harassment. Pfeiffer accused Klein of fueling Jackson’s addiction by provided him with muscle relaxers and narcotics.
