BALENCIAGA TRIPLE S REVIEW

It’s a been a month since I purchased the Balenciaga Triple S trainers, so I thought it would be a good idea to share some of my thoughts on it for those of you who are interested.

I never was the biggest fan of designer trainers, I didn’t really see the point in buying a designer running inspired shoes for 3x the price and without any of the added benefits of comfort and technology we’ve become accustomed to from the likes of Adidas and Nike. Lately things have changed for the better and fashion houses have finally realised the best way to compete and steal a march on the established sportswear brands is to directly appealing to the fashion conscious audience, who favour aesthetic appeal over performance.

I’ve been in-love with the Balenciaga Triple S ever since they debuted on the Paris runway back in January, even back then it was pretty obvious how popular the trainers would be and judging by the lack of stock currently available (at the time of writing Balenciaga online store is completely sold out) the Triple S tapped into the current zeitgeist of chunky trainers and won in a big big way. The trainer itself is right amount of ugly to fly under the radar, depending on what you’re wearing of course, it’s sturdy enough to withstand everyday use and if need be it can be dressed up in a more “smart casual” manner. Size-wise their deceptively normal looking, depending on the size and how slim your pants are but unfortunately for me, over time my feet have decided to grow a couple centimetres so instead of being a comfortable EU44 I probably lean towards being a dead on EU45. But I removed the insole and wore them for two weeks straight which helped stretch them out a little bit and so far so good, no pinch, no complaints!

If you’re on the fence about these, there’s plenty of other good options out there for you such as the HOKA One Clifton 4, which I’m a big fan of or the New Balance 991 in all its variations. But I much prefer the Triple S, it’s something that’s completely foreigner in my collection of trainers and really adds another dimensions to run of mill outfits and if you’re one of those people who like attention, these will score well in that department too! I’m not one for scores or rating system, so I’ll just let you know that I’m saving up and buying two more pairs.
