Balenciaga’s Faux Fur-Covered Track Sandal Is Next Level

Balenciaga has reworked the Track Sneaker over and over again, giving us the original pair in multiple iterations alongside hiking versions and sandals, and now the latter has been taken to the next level — that’s right, it’s been covered in faux fur.

The all-black, Demna Gvasalia-designed silhouette has been released as part of the label’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection, and aptly to make a sandal more weather-appropriate it has been extensively covered in fake fur that bulges out of the 84 overlapping panels on the upper.

A composition of neoprene, rubber, and nylon make up the busy upper design that’s fitted with two velcro straps (one of which being embossed with Balenciaga branding) and a heel strap that also features a branded plaque. More branding appears in the form of a “BB” toe bumper, while the sole unit has been given a blacked-out treatment with matte rubber and shiny plastic elements making up the technical look that is designed to propel the wearer forward.

Of course, the talking point is the faux fur that’s been added to the pair. It resides inside the sandal and covers every inch of the footbed, sides, top, and heel, making for a comfortable (if not probably quite sweaty) fit.

Is Balenciaga’s latest pair a hit for fall or has the silhouette run its course? Well, the pair has sold out completely on Balenciaga’s U.K. website and only a handful are left on the U.S. site, where it retails for a whopping $895 USD. Take a look at the pair above, and sound off below.
