Beauty review: Chanel’s new gel cushion foundation is great for Singapore’s hot weather
Mục lục
We love the convenience of Chanel’s new cushion foundation … it’s easy to use, protects your skin, makes you look great and is cooling for your hot sweaty skin, what’s not to like?
If you’re someone who doesn’t want to spend hours on your makeup, like me, then you probably have already discovered the benefits of using a cushion foundation. My problem was that I could never find quite the right consistency of not too moist, but not too drying, and something that gave relatively good coverage (especially for my dark eye circles) while not feeling like it was either as heavy as clay, or the opposite, sliding off my face in Singapore’s hot, sweaty weather.
What I tried …
After trying a number of different products, I’d basically given up on finding the perfect cushion foundation that would work for me, then Chanel Beauty released is Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation ($88). I was already a major fan of Chanel’s foundation products, my go-to being its CC foundation, so I was happy to give this new product a try. According to the brand, the product has a new ‘aqua-gel’ formulation that makes it super easy to apply and feels cool on the skin due to it being made up of 56% water. An added bonus is the kalanchoe extract and SPF 25 sunscreen, for ‘breatheable’ skin protection, and antioxidant benefits. The foundation is available in 7 shades in Singapore.
What it does and why I like it …
What I really like about the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation is that it feels really great on the skin. It’s not dry, but it’s not too moist either; it doesn’t cake even when you add it over your existing powder, and it’s also quite reflective giving you a nice ‘glow’ that’s not too shiny. It’s not extremely matte, which is something I’ve generally preferred, but this one is just matte enough for me. Chanel claims that it was designed to give you a truly natural look, and yes, it does seem to do this. This isn’t a full coverage foundation, but you can build up coverage and one of the best things is that you can reapply during the day as you need.
Would I buy it again?
Yes, absolutely. It’s admittedly not cheap at $88, but you get a lot of product for that price thanks to the cushion’s mesh ‘release’ that gives you an exact amount of product with one push of the sponge, and I really like the result.
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation, will be available at Chanel Beauty counters from 15 June, 2017.
