Blackpink‘s Jennie Kim made her Met Gala debut this year, and it’s no surprise that she stole the show. Affectionately referred to as “Human Chanel” by her fans, Jennie lived up to her nickname with her stunning appearance in not just any dress but a vintage Chanel dress.

Turning heads on the steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Jennie repurposed an archival Chanel piece for the biggest fashion event of the year. She chose a little white dress with a black bow belt and a pleated skirt, which was in fact one of the many iconic ensembles from the Chanel Fall/Winter 1990 ready-to-wear collection that was designed by Karl Lagerfeld himself.

The singer stayed true to the original runway look, pairing it with opera gloves, a velvet choker necklace, tights, and black pumps. But while the original runway look featured a headband, Jennie reinterpreted the sartorial masterpiece with a braided hairstyle inspired by her Korean heritage and topped off her coiffure with a white camellia flower, a signature Chanel accessory. The simple yet elegant touch highlighted Jennie’s personal style and love for the brand.
