Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet: Just Another Liquid Lipstick? — ADIA adores

As I mentioned in my last post, I have a TON of new things to review and share with you guys, and I decided to go ahead and start with the Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet.  There have been some incredible new Spring makeup launches and I’m more excited than I’ve been in a while about makeup.  [This new-found excitement could also be due to a super special secret project that I’m working on but….I can’t talk about it just yet.].Loving these Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet lippies. adiaadores.comSo, I received the Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet for free from Influentster about a month ago.  After wearing them and testing them out, I’m ready to share my thoughts.  I received two colors: a nice pinky/brown nude – Fawn and a rich pink/berry shade – Bright Plum.First off, the shades are beautiful.Fawn is such a wearable nude for me.  It’s extremely opaque and has just enough pink to be really flattering.  Sometimes nudes can give me that dead look (which I actually like in some cases), but this color is very soft and feminine.Wearing Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet in Fawn. adiaadores.com Wearing Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet in Fawn. adiaadores.comBright Fawn is a really nice berry shade with pink undertones.  Some berry shades have a reddish tone, but not this one.  It’s definitely not a lip color that I’d typically reach for, but I gotta admit that it’s a pretty color.  Because of the pink tone, I think this is a nice color for spring.  If you like pink lip shades but don’t want the typical bubblegum pink, you might love this one.Wearing Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet in Bright Plum. adiaadores.comWearing Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet in Bright Plum. adiaadores.comOK, now to talk about the formula.  I love that it’s smooth and very pigmented.  The texture is a thicker mousse texture that’s pretty different from other liquid lipsticks that I’ve tried.  I don’t find the Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet formula to be too drying either.  However, my main issue is that it doesn’t dry down completely, meaning these lippies transfer like crazy.  You will leave lipstick marks all over coffee mugs and cups.  If you touch your face often (or snack a lot like me), then this can actually get a little messy.I do think that the common trade off when it comes to liquid lipsticks is either something is drying but stays put, or it’s more comfortable on the lips but doesn’t last very long.  I’m kind of bummed about these Burberry Liquid Lip Velvets because the colors are great and they feel so nice on the lips.  But since they transfer so easily, I don’t tend to wear them to work because I don’t want to be leaving lipstick stains all over.  Plus I don’t want to think about re-applying my lipstick several times a day. Here are some swatches:Wearing Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet in Bright Plum. adiaadores.comAlso, in case you’re wondering, here are the details of my makeup:Base: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint in Cocoa mixed with Estee Edit Skin Glowing Balm in Caramel.  The Neutrogena foundation was very ashy and gray so I had to mix it with the Estee Edit one to warm it up.  Texture and coverage was nice but the color was not good at all. To be honest, I’m very disappointed in color range.  [Side note: what color was Kerry Washington wearing in the ads??  Didn’t see a possible match at Target.]Eyes: Pixi Molten Eyes in Rose Gold.  This shadow looks pretty enough but color was more cool than I liked, so I’m probably going to return it.  I’m also wearing Benefit They’re Real Mascara (love the brush), Colorpop Cosmetics Brow Pencil in Black and Glossier Boy Brow in Clear.Cheeks: Glossier Cloud Paint in Haze and Dusk mixed (don’t forget to check out my Cloud Paint video).  Benefit Watts Up Soft Focus Highlighter (I just got this in the Sephora Playbox and it’s a really pretty champagne gold). So, has anyone tried the Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet?  What are your favorite liquid lipstick formulas? Also, are you over the liquid lipstick trend? I’ve got questions! Let me know in the comments what you think.

P.S. I changed the way I edited my pictures in this post for a bit of a softer feel.  What do you guys think?

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
