CHANEL – Future-Fit Business
CHANEL is a private company and world leader in creating, developing, manufacturing and distributing a broad range of high-end creations including Haute Couture, Ready-to-Wear and Fashion Accessories, Fragrance & Beauty and Watches & Fine Jewellery products. Today, the house of CHANEL employs nearly 28,000 people and operates across 70 countries worldwide.
CHANEL has long recognised that the continued success of the brand is dependent on the company’s contribution to the creation of long-term value for the business and for society more broadly.
In 2018, the company published its Report to Society, recognising a demand for greater transparency around our operations. At a time of unprecedented social, economic, and environmental transformation, the brand saw a need to outline its ambitions and commitments to a future that creates value for business and society in a mutually beneficial way.
In March 2020, CHANEL launched CHANEL Mission 1.5°, its commitment to tackle climate change in line with the targets of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. This sets out to reduce the impacts of the company’s own operations and its global value chain to meet science-based targets, as well as going beyond its operational footprint to support solutions that preserve the environment and accelerate climate mitigation and adaptation. Using nature-based solutions to balance Scope 1,2, and 3 emissions, CHANEL reached carbon neutrality in 2019.
CHANEL is one of a number of global brands which has contributed to co-developing and stress-testing the Future-Fit Business Benchmark.
