CHANEL Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder Review | BEAUTY/crew

I will start off by saying this product did not work for me. I was a bridesmaid at a wedding and we were gifted a makeover plus a Chanel goodie bag with this powder, Vitalumiere foundation and Chanel Illuminating Base. These were also products that were used during the makeover.

Now the base and foundation felt light on my face, but when the the make-up artist applied this over the top (lightly with a large fluffy brush) it felt as though a mask had been put over my face. Now the result immediately afterwards was absolutely flawless, it smoothed out every single wrinkle, imperfection…everything. My skin looked like a Facetune edit. However, it felt as though it was suffocating my skin and my boyfriend mentioned i looked like a wax museum statue. Also, even though I have combination/oily skin, it managed to dry it out so much that within a couple of hours I had dry patches on my nose and lower cheeks. It really made my skin look a mess within only two hours. It went from hero to zero in one hot minute and I was so dissapointed.

After the initial application I have tried several times to use it again, because I though maybe it was a combination of all the Chanel products that I used, or even one of the other products that made my skin feel so bad, but always the same result. This is even though I was making sure to dust the very lightest layer on my face to avoid the first mishap, but there is something about the forumla that does not go with my skin type. It’s just too strong and heavy, and extremely drying. Its a shame though because the colour is absolutely beautiful and matches perfectly with my golden undertones.

Pros
– Amazing airbrushed effect on application (will be fabulous if you have skin that can tolerate it)

Cons
Very drying
