CK One Shock For Her Calvin Klein perfume – a fragrance for women 2011
This has been one of my favourite perfumes for years, I wouldn’t say that I have a signature scent, but this is probably the closest I have to a signature. Having said that I understand that people find this a generic fruity-sweet scent, but on me it is quite special. It may also be my happy memories of this and a certain amount of nostalgia (I have loved this for almost 10 years and worn it continuously for over 9), but it really does work on me. I also get moderate sillage with this (I find it fair for an EDT) and moderate longevity on skin and excellent longevity on clothing. My skin is usually a fragrance leech and I find even big perfumes have average to poor longevity on me, which is why I find it strange that this lasts relatively well on me compared to most people.
For me this starts with the blackberry and passion flower and quickly segues into the chocolate with the vanilla and musk bringing up the powdery base. Like the other Calvin Klein scent I know and love, it is well balanced and blended.
I remember eagerly racing around duty free for the very first time in late 2011, excited to be in the international part of the airport and travelling and sniffing endless bottles of perfume, low, middle and high end. By the end of the trip I had fallen in love with 3 fragrances, CK One Shock Her (the advertising around this was ubiquitous at the time), Prada Candy (same, the advertising was everywhere) and CK In2U. In early 2012, I had a bit of remaining spending money in hand, it was not enough to get Prada Candy but was enough for CK One Shock or CK In2U and I had to decide. At the time this was at the tail end of my fruity-citrus phase and the citrusy but unique In2U was the natural choice, however the sweetness of One Shock Her drew me in and I walked out with this in my suitcase. This was the first of many bottles of CK One Shock Her and the beginning of my love of gourmand fragrances and I still love it today.
