Calvin Klein – CK One Summer (March 2013)

CK One Summer 2013Calvin Klein – CK One Summer (2013)

First encounter: I often view as not paying a visit to the airport’s duty free stores as a sacrilege. This is where I got to see what’s new on the market before hitting the shelves in Orchard Road. Once in a while, I got to see limited editions fragrances being sold here, so I took my chances to buy a few and wear them on, earlier from everyone else. Back in 2013, I hit the duty free shops to see if I could get my hands on a few scents to add to my collection. As I had recalled buying CK One Summer few years back, I wanted to see if CK had launched their 2013 edition. There it was, stood proudly over the “Limited Edition” stand was the CK One Summer 2013 edition. I tried it once and I got hooked on to it. I knew I had to get it.

Inspiration: Calvin Klein never fails to disappoint beach goers and summer embracers. As part of the CK One Summer limited edition releases, he probably could had had taken a diving expedition along the Great Barrier Reef, that saw him drawing out the elements from the exotic, deep depths of the ocean for the 2013 edition. Developed by Harry Fremont, the 10th anniversary CK One Summer edition consisted a new blend of stimulating citrus fruits, aquatic and aromatic notes. Like most CK fragrances, CK One Summer 2013 is for both sexes, so expect to see lovebirds wearing the same scent when heading out.

Bottle: Designed by Fabien Baron, the glass bottle has been given an updated look – a rich, ocean aqua bottle theme with visible water droplets, giving the illusion of the bottle looking wet.

CK One Summer 2013

Type: Aromatic, Aquatic

Notes:-

Top: Zesty citrus, waterfall accords

Heart: Watermelon, cucumber, water lily, crushed leaves, aquatic mint

Base: Musk, moss, caraway, blond wood

Occasion: Summer, pool party, after shower, beach outings, water activities, aquatic sports, weekends, casual

Duration: A few spritzes of this scent stayed on my pulse points for a good 4 hours.

Verdict: I am naturally drawn to citrusy, fresh fragrance, and this scent was no different to the others I had been using all these while. Upon application, I am drawn to the cool, waterfall accords and the fresh burst of citrus notes. That instantly reminded me of all the trips I had embarked on when I went to places within Malaysia, such as Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak, where waterfall are in abundance. I was gung ho about camping in the wilderness and exploring nature in the past, so this fragrance gave me a shot of nostalgia when I tried it on. The scent slowly transitioned to juicy watermelon and crisp cucumber, tingling my senses as though a wave of sea breeze caressing my skin. The perfume closes well, with deep, muted musk and earthy blond wood accords. While it is not appropriate to wear this in the office, save the marine juices when hitting the beach or have a boat party along the marina. It is definitely a hooker with this scent.

Rating: 8.5/10

Note: As this scent is limited edition, chances in getting hold of this is quite slim. Some websites do still have stocks, so try finding them on Amazon or Ebay.
