Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Perfecting Serum | Review
Ever since Cetaphil launched their Bright Healthy Radiance line, I have been wishing they would add a serum to the range. Maybe I’m not the only one asking for it or it was really in their plan all along but they’ve done it. It’s finally here! The new Bright Healthy Radiance Perfecting Serum! And here I am of course with a review after testing it out for 2 weeks.
HEALTHY BRIGHTENED SKIN IN A SERUM
Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Perfecting Serum is a potent serum that delivers 7x the power for radiant sensitive skin. Powered by next generation GentleBright Technology™, an innovative blend of Sea daffodil to reduce the appearance of dark spots, and skin brightening Niacinamide for more even skin tone. In addition, with Antioxidant C and Advanced Peptide to reduce the appearance of dark spots in as fast as 14 days. It works on each stage of dark spot formation, while also protecting the skin from external stress such as blue light and pollution, resulting in a more even, healthy-looking and radiant complexion. This hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and fragrance-free formula is clinically tested on sensitive skin to ensure that it does not irritate or weaken the skin barrier. What’s more, it defends against 5 signs of skin sensitivity including dryness, irritation, roughness, tightness and a weakened skin barrier.
The Bright Healthy Radiance range now has a total of ten products; they’ve added three to the line; there’s a new cleanser, serum and face mask. They recently repackaged too but their bottles and tubes still has the same pink and white color theme. I’ve reviewed their products before and you can find that here. Anyway back to the serum, the Bright Healthy Radiance Perfecting Serum comes in a clear, dropper glass bottle with 30 ml of fluid. It’s a clear serum without any scent or fragrance.
The serum contains glycerin, niacinamide, dimethicone, 3-0-ethyl ascorbic acid, acetyl glycyl beta-alanine, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, Pancratium maritimum extract, tocopherol and sunflower seed oil. Niacinamide has brightening, anti-aging & anti-inflammatory effects, can strengthen the skin barrier and regulate oil production of the skin which makes it an amazing ingredient for acne-prone skin. Acetyl glycyl beta-alanine is a whitening peptide that’s trademarked with the name GenoWhite. It supposedly reduces pigmentation and improves skin clarity by inhibiting melanin generating enzymes and melanin transport. Pancratium maritimum or sea daffodil extract brightens skin by inhibiting the melanin transferase to the skin with hydrating and soothing properties.
The texture is love at first use. It has a light gel consistency that absorbs immediately on application without leaving any kind of sticky or greasy residue. I use 2 drops of it for the face twice a day everyday. It feels lightly hydrating and is enough for my dehydrated skin in the mornings that I may skip a moisturizer after and move onto my suncreen of choice. It’s a different story at night because I always add apply my moisturizer after this serum since it’s not as humid or hot.
Below is my before-and-after photo. The “after” is exactly 2 weeks — 14 days — after I started using it. Fourteen days for a brighter and more even skin tone is what Cetaphil was claiming its BHR line is capableof achieving. So what do you think? For the record, I only used this serum from the BHR line on the face while testing it out. I think there’s not much difference but I still see my skin becoming more even toned and “radiant”, some dark spots have lightened while some of the pores on my cheeks nose became less obvious.
I think is very suitable for those with oily and acne-prone skin and those living in very humid countries like the Philippines. I also think if you use the serum together with the other BHR products, its radiant effect might be more noticeable after 2 weeks. But if you already have some skincare with brightening effects you enjoy using, there’s no need to get the whole BHR range. Anyway, this serum comes with a steep price tag — Php 1,790, and is available in Shopee and Lazada. If you want to try this but find it too expensive for your budget, I suggest waiting for sales to get a discount.
