Chanel | Hydra Beauty Micro Liquid Essence & Masque de Nuit au Camélia: Review
Chanel | Hydra Beauty Micro Liquid Essence
Chanel | Hydra Beauty Micro Liquid Essence ($135 CAD for 150ml):
Housed in a simple squeezable bottle paired with a flat nozzle dispenser, the Hydra Beauty Micro Liquid Essence is an alcohol- and surfactant-free skin conditioner suspended with 3000 microdroplets made of camellia oil and camellia cell extracts. Cold-extracted from camellia petals harvested from the southwest of France, the camellia cell extract is moisturizing and refining. Additionally, the essence also contains ginger extract and sodium hyaluronate for an extra boost of hydration and energy.

In terms of texture, the Hydra Beauty Micro Liquid Essence is watery but slightly viscous. The microdroplets melt upon contact but there is a noticeable floral fragrance that’s a bit too strong for my liking. To apply, simply squeeze out a small amount and massage directly onto cleansed skin. The essence is immediately soothing and calming. It leaves behind no sticky or heavy residue and keeps the skin feeling hydrated. Overall, this is a simple and lightweight product that adds an extra boost of hydration to any skincare routine. The fragrance is a little too heavy for me but I’m happy to see no drying alcohol or too much silicone in the ingredients.

Chanel | Hydra Beauty de Nuit au Camélia ($105 CAD for 100ml):
Offering the highest concentration of camellia out of any Chanel skincare products, the Hydra Beauty de Nuit au Camélia is a lightweight sleeping mask designed to hydrate and energize the skin while it repairs and recharges during nighttime. Also infused with ginger extract, vitamin E, sodium hyaluronate, and a complex of trace elements (zinc, copper, and magnesium), the mask reactivates skin oxygenation by capturing oxygen molecules circulating in the blood vessels.

To use, apply a thin layer over clean or toned skin and leave on overnight. The mask has a floral fragrance similar to that of the essence but much milder in intensity. The formulation is lightweight and almost gel-like. It looks milky white fresh out of the tube but melts onto the skin immediately after application, providing a soothing, refreshing sensation. Chanel did include a petal-shaped silicone applicator but the product spreads just fine when applied with the fingertips. Because the mask does contain silicone, it sets to a natural matte finish. Silicone is a big no-no for me as it gets icky and heavy after a long day of wear but I don’t mind it so much in nighttime skincare products. After use, my skin feels very hydrated and refreshed. My face looks more radiant and not overly greasy as it would with a heavy night cream. Overall, this is a lovely sleeping mask. If hydration and radiance are your focus, then definitely check it out!
