Chanel Blush Review: 260 Alezane + 02 Rose Bronze

If you don’t know already, I’m a huge fan of Chanel Joues Contraste blush, so when I saw they were releasing select shades in limited edition packaging to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Joues Contraste blush, I had to pick a couple of them up. Read on for my review of Chanel’s Joues Contraste blush.

The brand released 3 of their most popular shades in the limited edition packaging: 02 Rose Bronze (a warm rosewood), 260 Alezane (a shimmering, bronze beige), and 320 Rouge Profound (a bold brick red). They are $45 each, which is the same price as their permanent collection of Joues Contraste. I decided on Rose Bronze and Alezane as these are the two shades I’d wear on a regular basis and I couldn’t be happier with my choices.

The LE packaging is identical to their classic compact except instead of the white logo on the top of the compact and on the brush that’s included inside, they’ve made both a deep burgundy color that’s subtle and perfect for fall.

I have no shame in admitting that I’m drawn to products based on the packaging first and then the quality, so I knew I had to add one of these to my collection. These purchases were better justified given the fact that Chanel blush is one of my favorite formulas ever.

As I mentioned above, Alezane has a golden shimmer finish and is a deep beige/medium brown color. It has a slightly peachy undertone to it. The shimmer in this blush is so visible but soft and it blends into the skin like a dream. I love that this shade warms up my skin while the gold shimmer gives it a glow. This will be perfect for someone who wants a radiant and natural-looking blush. This blush is pigmented and will work for medium to deep skin. If you have more of a deep-dark skin tone, this may work as a great highlighter shade. I would also recommend checking out 320 Rouge Profound.

02 Rose Bronze

260 Alezane

I was worried that Rose Bronze would be too cool in tone for my skin but it’s a rose-colored blush with a bronze undertone and pearlescent particles that warm it up, making it suitable for my medium-deep skin. It gives my skin that fresh and healthy glow that pink blushes tend to do, without looking doll-like. This one is also pretty pigmented and should work well on all skin tones.

As for the performance of the two shades I chose, they’re both winners. Alezane gives me the glow that I’m always trying to achieve, and Rose Bronze brightens up any makeup look I add it to. They’re both so velvety smooth and can easily be built up or sheered out to achieve as much or as little intensity you want. Both also have a subtle rose scent that is signature in most Chanel beauty products, so if you don’t like fragranced products, Chanel blush may not be for you.

Both blushes have shimmer in them, which I love in the fall and winter to help me look alive since we won’t be getting too much sun during the cooler months. Again, I’m a huge fan of Chanel blush, the limited-edition packaging is just a bonus. If you haven’t tried their blushes before, I highly recommend checking them out. There’s a great range of shades, so you’ll definitely be able to find one that suits your skin tone and makeup style.
