Chanel Launches Eyeglasses E-Commerce in the United States | Teen Vogue

On August 20, legendary fashion house Chanel is officially launching an eyeglass e-commerce option in the United States. With over 300 unique products, now available on chanel.com, eyeglasses are only the brand’s second fashion product category that’s now available to purchase in the US, following sunglasses. 

The category’s inaugural Fall 2020 eyeglass collection is inspired by Chanel’s emblematic tweed, according to a press release issued by the fashion house. The new e-commerce will allow customers to sort out styles by theme, frame shape, and color. The site will also feature a virtual try-on function, as well as a new optical size guide to ensure you find the perfect style and fit from the comfort of your home.

Ordering from the new eyeglass e-commerce is a multilayered experience. First, individuals may choose from the wide selection of frames available. Then, they are guided in the direction of local opticians through the Store Locator function who will help them in finding their perfect prescription lens to complete the process. Additionally, according to the press release, “clients who purchase through CHANEL.com will enjoy additional services at recommended opticians, including expedited prescription lens completion, eye exams, complimentary fittings and adjustments, and after-sales care.”

In terms of how the frames are constructed, Chanel stated that, “for the first time, the metal structure that holds each temple has been melded into a fabric of woven metallic threads between two acetate plaques, creating a metallic interpretation of tweed that breathes a spirit of jeweled sophistication into rectangular frames.”

“Titanium, known for its durability and hypoallergenic qualities, is used to create pantos shaped frames with tweed details in silver, pale or antique gold titanium,” the brand added. “Signature styles throughout the collection are available with non-prescription strength blue-light filtering lenses.”
