Chanel’s Chance Perfume Impression: Woody Hyacinth – Dossier Perfumes

A Fragrance For The Spirited Woman

Meet the girl who has decided to explore the world on her own. This is a young woman who loves life and reaches for adventure. Impetuous and determined, she is a force to be reckoned with.

Her fragrance of choice? Chance by Chanel.

Chanel Chance is a chypré floral fragrance for women, containing sweet notes of jasmine and amber patchouli along with accents of warm spice. Launched in 2002, it’s one of the more prominent fragrances from the House of Chanel. And that’s saying something, considering how many incredible fragrances the house has created over the years. Another superb scent, this one is perfect for any woman who enjoys life, is fearless, and is ready to take on the world.

Chanel Chance is a sweet aroma with a slightly spicy undertone. Although, we have to admit it was harder to identify the single notes in this one. There’s a lot of harmony in the scent since both the floral and citrus notes complement each other exceptionally well.

The fragrance opens with fresh pink pepper that immediately adds some spiciness to the mix. There’s also a hint of zesty citrus here, although it isn’t all that pronounced. At its heart is a floral scent that contains sensual jasmine notes overlaid with an earthy hyacinth. As the fragrance progresses, white musk, amber patchouli, and vanilla appear, adding a unique depth to its base. Together, these notes blend beautifully, much like the instruments in an orchestra.

Chanel Chance is a perfume that makes a great fragrance for every occasion. It’s a simple and clean scent, perfect for work or classy events. We’d refrain from calling it a nighttime fragrance, though. This is another one of those light and all-so-dainty perfumes, so when it comes to performance, you don’t have to worry too much about being overwhelmed by its powerful notes. For general use, we recommend three to four sprays.

Several versions of Chanel Chance have been released since the original Chanel Chance Eau de Parfum was launched in 2005. There’s the original Chanel Chance Eau de Parfum, with its signature musky patchouli jasmine scent. You can also get the Chanel Chance Eau de Toilette, a lighter interpretation of the original.

The Chance range has been updated with a few other flankers as well, including the rich forest-inspired Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche, the uber-feminine Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, as well as the Chanel Chance Eau Vive, which is perhaps one of the fruitier fragrances you can get from the French fragrance house.

Dossier’s Woody Hyacinth is a Chanel Chance dupe that hits a lot of the same beats, but for a much lower price. Woody Hyacinth is a versatile fragrance that can be at the same time fresh and floral; spicy and sensual. With notes of bergamot, rose, oakmoss, and patchouli, our replica of Chanel Chance opens with a pleasant citrus aroma before settling down with the slightly musky qualities of the original.
