IELTS speaking part 3 -Describe a person you admire – follow-up questions
There are follow-up questions to describe a person you admire. This session lasts approximately 4-5 minutes on the actual test and requires you to answer general topic questions or cue card questions.
1.What qualities do you think are necessary for a respected person?
There are many qualities a person should possess to be admired, such as bravery, kindness, and respect for nature. But the most important quality is the usefulness of this person, admired by others.
2.Which celebrity do you think deserves more admiration? Politician, author, athlete, movie star?
I don’t think a person should be praised for any particular talent they have. Their humanity should be admired. If a movie star is very popular and successful, but not good, similarly, politicians who have no compassion for the poor should not be respected. If they do some extraordinary work, then they should be admired.
3.Do you think scientists and soldiers deserve more praise?
Scientists and soldiers deserve to be admired and recognized for their selfless service to the Fatherland. Only the most qualified men and women can fill these positions and for that, we are indebted for their services. They sacrifice their personal life for the country, this is the main reason I think they should be admired by all citizens.
4.Do you think people who are famous are more admired than others?
On average, you would find at least most of them to be good, generous, kind, and caring people. You may be tempted to believe that these people are the “better” people. But you might be wrong. The truth is that being successful will make people see you as a better person. Why? Our brains are randomly programmed to assume that good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people.
5.What kind of person do you admire?
Well, I guess a person who helps me out of dangerous situations; a person who has better qualities of living life than me, is admired by me, as I would be able to learn something from them and able to have a better life than the present.
6.Do you think people also see weaknesses in the people they follow, or are they just avoiding them?
Depending on the person, some people blindly follow celebrities no matter what they do in real life. Some forgive small mistakes and weaknesses of those they respect. They think they are human too.
