Don’t Buy Balenciaga’s $5,750 “Sneaker” If You Plan To Wear It
Balenciaga is celebrating its coveted Track 2 silhouette by debuting an entirely not safe for walking (NSFW) iteration, formed almost entirely of brass.
Made in Italy, the “Track Sculpture” in silver brass is soldered together with 16 molded pieces, making it significantly heavy on foot. The sculpture precisely reproduces the high-fashion yet super-technical take on a retro sneaker, including the layered design of the silhouette with all the texture and branding elements.
The size 41 sculptural sneaker will set you back $5,750 and it’s available to buy now on Balenciaga’s website as well as their Madison Avenue and North Rodeo Drive storefronts.
The brand originally unveiled three more comfortable versions last year: offered in white, black, and red, blue, and gray colorways. The sneaker was available initially at Balenciaga online and in-store at select European stores, with a worldwide release following in June last year. Since its initial release, the Balenciaga Track 2 has been made available in a number of other colorways.
