Escape Calvin Klein perfume – a fragrance for women 1991

Escape was my main signature scent in the mid 90s (along with CK’s Eternity). I started rewearing Escape since 2019. It’s now made by Coty and very inexpensive, around $25. The new version is nearly identical to the original formula, but the best way to describe the reformulation is like listening to a recording of a high quality recording. (You know exactly what it is, but it’s missing some of the originals quality and depth). Escape’s sillage and longevity are amazing. I still get 8hrs of scent just like I did with the original formula from the 90s. Also, if you love Issey Miyake Leau D’Issey, then you will also love Escape. The 2 are nearly identical to my nose. Since spring of 2022, I actually now layer my Escape and Issey together. And oh boy have I received so many compliments or asked what I’m wearing so they can purchase. To describe Escape’s scent…it is the ultimate aquatic fruity floral that hits you instantly with a fresh sweet equally fruity and floral watery combination. It is a very mood lifting pleasant feminine scent. Makes me feel happy and elegant. A bit hard to describe. Cant really say one note stands out more than the other, but rather they all blend perfectly to create a mesmerizing unique fragrance delight. You definately can detect that the fruits in it are peach and melon, and they pair and compliment the lovely florals in it perfectly. I can see where this fragrance is either a “you love it” or “you hate it”. Either it wows you or hits you as too cloying/sweet or heady. Depends how sensitive some people’s noses are? Definately not a light or skin scent. I dont like a weaker fragrance that certain notes stand out or change to something else not as pleasant after the initial opening and dry down. Escape does not do that; every phase from initial blast to the dry down stays constant and pleasant. I always get compliments or asked what I’m wearing more often than any other fragrance when I wear this, or when I wear my also beloved Issey Miyake Leau D’ Issey. I get the most compliments when I layer my Escape with my Issey. If anyone has the vintage juice from the 90s oh boy would I love to purchase. Why they discontinue such popular lovely fragrances (or just have them eventually become more cheaply made) I will never understand. I noticed that several people also compare Escape with Elizabeth Arden’s Sunflowers as well, that the 2 are very similar. I also wore Sunflowers in the 90s during the summer. But to me, I find that while yes there are some similarities with the peach, melon, and a few of the same aquatic and floral accords, but there is a main difference that sets the 2 apart. Escape does not have any of the citrus notes that Sunflowers has prominent in its top notes, and Sunflowers has a more woodyness to it in the dry down where as Escape has more of a light sandlewood in its dry down. But both have Oakmoss in the drydown too. Also Sunflowers is more in the warmer scent catagory vs the cooler aquatic catagory that Escape and Issey are in.
But as for a very feminine, aquatic, pure, fresh, fruity floral, with great longevity and sillage…I’ve yet to find a better one that is as uplifting, enticing, and long lasting as CKs Escape or Issey Miyakes Leau D’Issey. Do try layering them both together for a heavenly happy scent that stays with you all day and will have others notice and compliment how wonderful you smell as well!
