Our company is looking for a Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the Quality Assurance department is properly organized, staffed and trained to meet and achieve plant and departmental goals;
- Perform as plant contact person for sales and customer issues;
- Serve as an advocate of our food safety culture;
- Assist plant leadership in managing local, state, customer/third party, and federal audits and inspections;
- Maintain, improve, and develop systems to support the company’s food safety programs;
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations;
- Organize and lead monthly food safety team meetings;
- Work with sanitation department to improve sanitation program and correct deficiencies;
- Responsible for internal audits and assist in corrective actions when necessary;
- Responsible for understanding and leading the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (SQF) implementation and re-certification;
- Oversee CAPA program and investigation of customer complaints regarding food safety and quality;
- Oversee and conduct annual and ongoing training for plant personnel;
- Oversee compliance with the Hazard Analysis and Risk-based Preventive Controls (HARPC) provision in the FSMA;
- Work with Purchasing Department to manage supplier quality and compliance;
- Monitor industry and regulatory updates, trends, and news to keep the company informed and ahead of the curve.
Requirements:
- Must have or complete certification status as Certified Food Safety Manager or equivalent;
- Understanding of further processing is a plus;
- Knowledge and understanding of poultry processing in a harvest/slaughter facility required;
- HACCP certified and very strong HACCP and regulatory skills;
- Understanding of management principles and team concepts;
- Perform as plant contact person for sales and customer issues;
- Ensure that the Quality Assurance department is properly organized, staffed and trained to meet and achieve plant and departmental goals;
- Develop a professional working relationship and act as a plant liaison with USDA staff.
