This original BlockTheSpot mod is compatible with the older and standalone Spotify Windows app downloaded from Spotify’s servers. It will not work with the Microsoft Windows Store version or the latest Spotify version.

There are two ways to achieve this, one is manual and the other is fully automated. Both are safe to use. I will show you the steps for both ways, just in case you find it hard to trust the automated procedure. 😀

Manual procedure to apply BlockTheSpot patch:

1. Download the old version of the Spotify installer from their server here (i.e. Spotify version 1.1.4.197 for 32-bit Windows).
2. You will also need to download the netutils.dll file from here, which actually is a mod file that helps block the advertisements. We will need this file later so keep it in easy to access.
   
3. Run the installer to install Spotify on your computer.
4. Once installed, the Spotify app will open automatically. Close the app.
5. Go to the default Spotify installation folder located inside AppData. Don’t worry, I have a shortcut for that. Keep reading.
6. On the keyboard, simultaneously press the Windows key and R key, this will open Run. Copy the following command and paste it into the Run command box and hit enter:
   %APPDATA%/Spotify
   
7. Now, copy the netutils.dll file and paste it inside this Spotify folder.

That is it. Restart your computer to apply the changes and then launch Spotify and log in with your credentials. Enjoy endless music without ads 😉

Automated procedure to apply BlockTheSpot patch:

1. Make sure you have uninstalled Spotify from your computer.
2. Download the Spotify patch downgrade.bat file from the official GitHub repository here.
   
3. Launch the downgrade.bat file and wait for it to download and install the old Spotify version.
4. Once that is done, it will block the Spotify auto-update functionality.
   
5. In the next step, the Spotify folder will be patched with a netutils.dll file to block ads.

Once all the processes are complete, Spotify will launch and you can start using the app by entering your login credentials. Windows Method 2: Get Spotify Premium with the latest BlockTheSpot Mod

The following procedure uses the latest version of BlockTheSpot Spotify Premium mod for Windows 7 and Windows 10 PC and laptop devices. Once activated, this will automatically block all ads including video ads, banner ads, and audio ads from the Spotify app and will give you unlimited song skips as well as support for radio and vertical video. You can remove the Spotify Upgrade button too.

This mod is currently in active development and supports the latest version of Spotify on Windows, unlike the previous method, where it was compatible with the old version only.

Similar to the first method of BlockTheSpot, this mod can also be applied in two ways i.e. manual and automated. Both are safe to use. However, automation may not work properly so I am going to show you the steps for the manual procedure only. IMPORTANT

This mod is compatible with the Spotify Windows app download from the official website. It will not work with the Spotify version available on the Microsoft Windows Store.

1. Make sure your PC is running the latest version of Spotify that is downloaded from Spotify’s website, if not then you need to download it. In case you have the Microsoft Store version, then it is important to uninstall that before proceeding.
2. You will also need to download the chrome_elf.zip file from the forked GitHub repository here, which actually is a mod file that helps block the advertisements. Extract this zip file and keep the contents (i.e. chrome_elf.dll and config.ini) handy, we will need those later.
   
3. Run the Spotify installer to install the latest Spotify on your computer.
4. On your computer, go to the Spotify installation folder located inside AppData. Don’t worry, I have a shortcut for that. Keep reading.
5. On the keyboard, simultaneously press the Windows key and R key to open Run. Copy the following command and paste it into the Run command box and press enter:

6. Here in this Spotify directory, you should find a file named chrome_elf.dll. You need to rename it to chrome_elf_bak.dll.
7. Now, copy those chrome_elf.dll and config.ini files you extracted earlier in step 2, and paste them inside this Spotify folder. If the replace dialogue box appears, hit yes to replace files.
