Help improve the quality of life in your neighbourhood

Help improve the quality of life in your neighbourhood

By law, each council needs to work together with interested residents and a range of organisations to agree actions that will make a real difference to the lives of people living in the council area. This process is ‘Community Planning’.

Community Planning process

Community Planning gives residents an opportunity to have their say on council issues that matter to them and bring about real change to help improve the quality of life and the wellbeing of their district or borough.

This means that local people can get involved in a wide range of social, economic and environmental issues that are important to their neighbourhood, including land use, housing issues, community facilities, play areas, transport and services.

Community Planning Partnerships include the following partners:

  • councils
  • statutory bodies and agencies
  • community and voluntary sector
  • local council officers and elected members
  • government departments
  • businesses

How you can get involved

Getting involved with your local community plan can be very rewarding.

Community Planning Partnerships invite local residents to get involved in the process in a variety of ways ranging from open invitations in local media, to public workshops, pop-up engagements and conferences.
