Here’s what Shai Gilgeous-Alexander aka SGA’s big red boots are after the Thunder star was spotted rocking the controversial shoes to a game.

NBA players are usually never afraid to make bold fashion statements. Over the years the likes of Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Kyle Kuzma have raised the bar when it comes to brave fashion choices.

Now we have another latest addition in the world of zany NBA attire. It comes from Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. SGAs big red boots were the topic of much discussion recently – here’s what we know about them.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander aka SGA’s big red boots go viral

All the NBA talk over the last day or so has been about LeBron James breaking the all-time scoring record. However, SGA’s big red boots went slowly under the radar but are now being talked about on NBA Twitter.

A picture of SGA wearing the big red boots to the Lakers game went viral and it appears they’re pretty divisive.

‘Look like Ronald McDonald lol’, one fan said.

Others compared his look to that of Papa Smurf and Pac Man:

What are SGA’s big red boots?

SGA’s red boots are actually by MSCHF, the Brooklyn-based art collective who have created several controversial sneaker releases in the past.

The latest collection is believed to draw inspiration from the character Astro Boy as seen in the Japanese anime. They are reportedly constructed almost entirely of a TPU shell, with EVA foam used for the ribbed outsole.

According to various reports, a pair of MSCHF Big Red Boots is priced at $350, so they don’t come cheap.

MSCHF’s Big Red Boots will be available to buy at 11 am ET on the official shopping site or the brand’s app starting February 16, 2023.

It’s just the latest bizarre NBA trend

It comes just days after Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma broke the internet with his huge oversized black puffer jacket. Arriving to the Brooklyn Nets game on Saturday, Kuzma wore the all-black puffer jacket which effectively covers up his entire face.

The Rick Owens Black Knot Down Jacket was as equally divisive as Shai Gilgeous Alexanders big red MSCHF shoes. However, at a reported $2518, the jacket is significantly more expensive.

The NBA world is no doubt waiting in bated breath for either or Kuz or SGA’s next pregame outfit.
