Jacques Lemans, the accessible brand
The Austrian watchmaker is recognized for its all-star partnerships but the brand has much more than that to offer to watch enthusiasts, like great value.
For the sports fans among you, you might have seen the Jacques Lemans logo during a UEFA Champions League match. For many years now t heAustrian brand has been producing and distributing watches for the UEFA Champions League as and the UEFA Europa League.
But they didn’t stop there – the brand also has partnerships with professional basketball, motorsports, and even timbersports!
If sports aren’t your thing, you might have spotted Hollywood film star Kevin Costner sporting a Jacques Lemans piece. The actor has been a brand ambassador since 2013, a friendship that developed into a partnership between Costner and company CEO Alfred Riedl. The pair met at a concert by a band that Costner founded, and their relationship developed over a common passion for environmental protection, and of course watches.
The result of that partnership was the Jacques Lemans Kevin Costner Collection, a series of watches defined by their sportiness and understatement, not unlike Kevin Costner himself. Of course, that partnership also increased the notoriety of the brand globally.
But what do we really get from a Jacques Lemans watch besides the celebrity endorsement?
Well designed through and through, the build quality of their watches is quite good. This is especially true when you consider the price – many fall between the 200 and 700 euro range. The brand has managed to work out the delicate balance between price and features by offering a range of different movements at varying price points.
Movements are mostly Japanese-made quartz and automatic units. You might find them in the Jacques Lemans Classic Collection, which clearly prioritises design. Specifically, this line is focused on producing cleanly designed and sophisticated watches that can stand the test of time in terms of styling.
But you can also find a serious timepiece within the Classic Collection, like the Retro Classic. Sporting a 44mm stainless steel case and an automatic movement, the classy watch can be had for a hair under 700 euros.
The brand also uses the familiar ETA Valjoux 7750 Swiss Made automatic movement, which of course comes at a higher price. The Swiss movement can be usually found in “higher line” of Jacques Lemans watches, like the Automatic Collection, which unites nice designs and premium materials in a very complete and efficient way.
Across all of its collections, Jacques Lemans offers good value to consumers. On top of the great design, you get a watch that looks and feels like it’s several times more expensive that its actual price. This is especially good news for enthusiasts working with limited budgets, making the family run Austrian brand truly accessibly for everyone.
