The present worldwide craze riding on the K-pop phenomenon wave has given remarkable opportunities for artists to work with big fashion houses and see what they can bring to the table beyond the limits of their skillset on-stage. The past 2 years, we saw the global ambassador crown of Chanel handed down to Jennie by G-dragon making her first fashion week appearance in Paris at Chanel’s “By The Sea” Runway show. Not only that, we then saw Lisa being appointed as the official muse of Hedi Slimane’s Celine last year. Similarly, Kiwi member Rosé‘s ambassador role for Saint Laurent was made official earlier this year.
The girls shines brightly individually in their own special ways and to tell you the truth, their visuals and are overwhelming presence is truly unrivalled. Throughout their career, a question amongst blinks and netizens have been widely discussed; a certain member, yet to be mentioned, appears to be underrated and not receiving enough attention she deserves so.
The charming and fine looking individual who debuted as the lead vocalist and visualist of the group in 2016 after having trained under their management company since 2011 is none other than Kim Jisoo. As she proudly stands-by her younger sisters land endorsement deals with leading luxury labels, her being the eldest of the group proves that she truly is a role model not only to them but also to her fans as she hits some of her own in diverse paths. While she gears up with the rest of her band mates for their anticipated forthcoming full album, let’s go over what you have been greatly missing out on!
Burberry London Ambassador
Debuting as a K-pop idol is one thing, but debuting as a fashion icon is on a different scale of its own. Jisoo made her first appearance at London Fashion Week 2019 where she was seen stylized in British heritage brand Burberry’s Matching “Tartan Wool Tailored Jacket” and “Pocket Detail Tartan Wool Mini Skirt” from the Fall 2019 collection.
At a later date, she shot an editorial with ELLE Korea where she starred as the magazine’s front cover of the December 2019 issue showcasing Burberry’s “Reversible Leopard Print Bucket Hat” that sits on a price tag of ₩540,000 (approx. £310 / €350 / $400).
Dior Brand Ambassador
Jisoo recently made a significant statement that she is now representing Dior after the brand uploaded a short film with DAZED Korea. As she steps out of the carriage wearing the new knitted version of the iconic “Bar Jacket” and “J’adior Pumps“, she sets off to explore the enchantment of a flower-filled mazed where she then flaunts a medley of the latest “Bobby” bags from the Fall 2020 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Let us also remember that the Italian fashion designer paid homage to Christian Dior’s beloved dog, Bobby, as she searched for inspiration when designing this modernized vivid leather satchels set to release this September.
Have said all that, this isn’t the first occasion Jisoo represented the French haute couture brand. Back in 2019, she was seen dressed in Dior’s Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 “Bustier Jumpsuit” paired with the “Fringed Skirt” at the Galleria Department East Store in Gangnam-gu, Seoul where she attended the Dior pop-up store opening.
In addition to those, it has already been over a year since she started working with Dior’s beauty line. Recently, she uploaded a set of MARIE CLAIRE Korea September 2020 issue covers on her Instagram channel. Beauty shoots are very different as opposed to fashion editorials since they’re strongly concentrated on close-up shots to highlight the wonderful works of the makeup artist, hairstylist and many others. Anyhow, if Jisoo didn’t wear any makeup, it wouldn’t have made much difference since her beauty would just have pierced straight through the camera lens.
Leading Role in An Upcoming K-drama

Last but by no means least, the superstar might have just reached the biggest milestone of her career so far. Several days earlier, YG Entertainment has confirmed that she will be starring as the female lead in an upcoming 16 episode-long drama dubbed “Snowdrop” brought to you by the same directors from the hit series “Sky Castle” that aired in late 2018.
To Jisoo, this is just the beginning of her career and is yet to open doors leading to greater heights. It’s also worth mentioning that she once cited in an interview with SCMP’s Jeff Benjamin: “I want to tell young girls to try thinking of their future selves as their role models. Rather than chasing after trying to be someone else, I hope that they will confidently walk their own paths while looking towards the tomorrow of their dreams. I, myself, have tried following people around me, and I’ve got lost and ended up feeling emptiness rather than a sense of accomplishment. I’d like everyone to find their own role models within themselves.”
That statement on its own shows that she is unquestionably not the type of person who easily subjects to hardship and wishes to continue walking the path she is on along with the rest of BLACKPINK as they continue to be role models to the younger generation and of course, their beloved Blinks.
In your honest opinion, how do you feel about Jisoo? Is she underrated as everyone makes it out to be or are people simply saying that because the internet tells them so? Head over to our Instagram and let us know how you feel!
In related news, the girls have confirmed their upcoming collaboration with American singer, song writer and actress Selena Gomez on a single titled “Ice Cream” set to release next Friday and we hope that you are as excited as we are!
