Hi Anon!
‘Own it’
I. Have. Thoughts.
Adult content ahead.
So this was an interesting time for KM and many people can clearly see the shift happening. You ask some good questions and if you don’t mind I’m going to add a few.

First Question… Why?
First to lay some ground work. In 2015, Jimin did a small cover of Own It to sanitize the lyrics…at least that’s my best guess. He performed the choreography on 150328 with his cover Replay as the music.
Fast forward to June 2016 and while he and Jungkook are practicing Adult Ceremony/ Coming of Age, Jimin is also teaching RM the Own It choreo for festa. RM is using Jimin’s cover instead of the original song as well.
What I’m getting at, is there is no official reason for Jimin and Jungkook to be having a “dance practice” for that song. They had their own festa unit performance and Jungkook was not connected to ‘own it’ in any way before, taking part in Minimoni’s rehearsals, was in no way necessary for him. So why were they doing it? And why to the original song with those lyrics as opposed to the cover?
Pure answer: Because they wanted to. These all nighter buddies who love to sing and dance probably did that often… Which is why they’re usually so in sync. They just hang out doing choreos for fun.
Naughty speculation: JK was a man on a mission, at this time, to present himself as a grown and sexy adult… Especially in his interactions with Jimin. This song fits in perfectly with that intention. The lyrics scream JK’s not a baby anymore y’all, he’s grown. Also, Minjoon sometimes brings out a special side in JK lol. That is his notp. Did that maybe spur on his natural competitivness? Possibly. Watch the practice…He effectively steps in and makes sure no one (not even Jimin) associates this with minimoni… It’s a jikook thing.
Is this even a dance practice?
You mentioned the lighting and that alone should make us question the title. When have they ever had a dance practice in the dark? Never. There is clearly no one behind the camera here… not just because of the low angle but JK walks to the camera multiple times. Which tells us they are alone alone.
It also raises another question, what is the purpose of this footage? We’ve covered that there is no official reason for them to be doing this and now we add to the fact that they are completely alone with no other members of staff. It seems like someone… maybe both of them wanted to memorialize this.
I have nothing but naughty speculations here. On one hand, JK seems to be the one in charge of the camera. There is sometimes a possessive smugness that KM show towards each other and I get the feeling it feeds, Jungkook in particular, to exert that possessiveness and ‘show off’ that Jimin is his. He wants everyone to know it.
On the other hand, Jimin is quite the memory keeper. We see him recording videos and taking pictures all the time. Just how many videos of Euphoria did Jimin take? I know his phone is full of JK and we only see the tiniest fraction of it. This makes what he does decide to share feel very intentional. What was the intention behind this? I’m going to touch back on this later.
Why does Jimin change his shirt?
This one makes me laugh because I think you’re asking about Jimin’s pants situation.
Pure answer: This was actually a busy day for them. If you read my original post then you know they had multiple rehearsals that day, but in case you didn’t here’s a quick rundown
Sometime before the Paris vlive on 160603
• Bapsae – 160602
• Adult Ceremony – 160921
• RM dance practice – 160922
linked above
• Own It – 160813
• I like it pt 2 – 170607
These were all filmed the same day and Jimin changes his shirt multiple times. Thank goodness for JK and Hobi keeping on the same outfits!
Naughty speculation: So the real is… dudes get erections. It happens. I’ve seen some very adamant arguments that it couldn’t possibly be that for xyz reasons and for me personally… I’m more inclined to think there was a pants situation than not. I’m not a male nor a dancer, fortunately I have male dancer friends I can ask. I’ve seen online versions argue it’s impossible and at the end of the day I could only take the opinions of strangers on the internet with a grain of salt. After questioning my in real life friends, I came to my own personal opinion that it’s not likely but possible, more possible if you are dancing with a partner you are attracted to…
It happens.
How were they able to upload it?
Well BH is known for keeping things locked in the vault and releasing it months or in some cases 2 years later?!? Just take a look at the dance practices and look at how they were released even though they’re from the same day. ‘I like it pt 2’ wasn’t released until a year later for 2017’s festa.
We also have to consider the time in how likely questionable content would be released. Today, BTS are worldwide icons and their popularity, range and influence is only increasing. Sometimes fans look at old content with the same lens of who BTS is today. This was 2016. Watch their festa radio show from that year. It gives a good idea of how BTS saw themselves at the time.
Pure answer: We will probably never crack the code of BH’s algorithm and how they release content. Whatever rhyme or reason they use to make those decisions just won’t be understandable to us.
Naughty speculation: Just exactly who uploaded this video? Not only is Brian Puspos name spelled incorrectly, the title of the video is formatted differently than most other practices which is usually
[CHOREOGRAPHY] BTS (방탄소년단) song name
If you wanted to argue that it’s not a dance practice (which is fair and I agree) the other category of content it could fall under is a bomb which is usually titled
[BANGTAN BOMB] small description
Now BH is made up of people and people make mistakes. It shouldn’t be out of the ordinary to consider the uploader was a person who made a mistake in formating the title and correctly spelling the choreographer’s name. But the implication that maybe Jimin or Jungkook uploaded this themselves can’t be ignored either.
Is it possible they had that level of access at this time? I’m not exactly sure… We do know that Jungkook himself uploaded GCF-T in 2017 and they’ve always had control over their social media accounts. When BH did not release KM’s photos together because they were not the official unit in one photoshoot, Jimin release them on twitter himself.
With the possible theory that this was personal footage…. Who has a pattern of behavior by releasing personal revealing videos of themselves and their bandmate 🤔… It’s a toss up.
A friend of mine suggested that Jimin and/or JK could have sent the video to staff with a typo and they didn’t double check it before posting. I think that’s a very likely possibility. Even if KM didn’t personally do it, I strongly believe that they were the driving force behind getting this content uploaded…. After all it was uploaded on the 13th. 👀
Returning to my earlier question about the intention here. The dance, the lyrics, them being alone, the changes in their dynamics…
Was there a point being made here?
We see a lot of exploration in 2015 – 2017… them navigating how they want to show themselves on camara. With this, there was a lot of shifting and “tension”, tension that could be felt through the screen. It was a quite a process to watch and I think there was a lot of back and forth before they settled comfortably and committed…. to both their relationship and their strategy on how they would present it. I’m sure the feedback from fans played a role too…. what was dismissed and what was accepted.
So…..Let that sink in.
I know you probably didn’t expect all this when you sent your ask. LOL. I hope you don’t mind the way I went off and thank you for enjoying my blog.
