Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum Review
Overall Thoughts
This is a phenomenal serum for all skin types. It has the perfect gel-like consistency that makes it sink into the skin quickly. I love how hydrating this is without being sticky on the skin or leaving any residue behind.
It’s very hydrating and I think that those with combination and oily skin could use this by itself, especially in the summer months. This serum can also provided a drink of hydration to dehydrated or dry skin (of course paired with a thicker moisturizer).
It layers beautifully and I love using this serum during the day under makeup.
This product is my go-to when my skin is feeling dehydrated and dry. It instantly rehydrates my skin and within a couple days, my skin is back to normal.
Packaging
The serum comes in an 80ml hard plastic bottle with a pump cap. I personally love the pump because it dispenses the perfect amount of product for one application.
Price
The Klairs Rich Moist Serum retails for about $21, depending on the retailer. I think it’s a pretty good price considering all the amazing ingredients in this formula.
Scent
Since Klairs removed the essential oils from this product, it is now fragrance free. Although it does have a slight chemical-y smell when you put your nose up to the bottle, but when applying I don’t notice any scent at all.
Texture
This product is thick for a serum. Most serums are pretty watery and thin but this one is almost gel-like. It’s really got a unique texture because once you start to apply the product it melts into the skin like a serum and absorbs very quickly.
Performance
The Klairs Rich Moist Serum is just amazing. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated, plump and looking healthy. It does leave the skin with a nice glow but doesn’t feel sticky or tacky at all.
As soon as I apply this serum, my skin instantly looks and feels plump and super hydrated.
I also like the fact that this serum added so much hydration that I can use this by itself with just another moisturizer. For me, it can replace essences, toners and other serums because it hydrates so well.
It layers really well with other products and I’ve never had an issue with pilling. It also wear well under makeup and makes a great base for application – my skin always feels so smooth and is hydrated so makeup looks beautiful on top!
As for the soothing claim, I honestly don’t find this serum very soothing, I think it provides more hydration than soothing or calming benefits. As someone with sensitive skin, I really didn’t notice any difference in irritation or redness when using this product and when my skin is irritated, I reach for other products instead of this. Which is a little disappointing because ‘soothing’ is literally in the name.
That said, it’s still a great product, but if your only concern is soothing the skin, I would skip this and try something with more calming ingredients.
Dear Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum Pros & Cons
Pros
Cons
How To Use Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum
This product is a serum, so it’s designed to be used after cleansing and toners/essences and before moisturizers or sleeping packs.
Since this is a really thick serum, you’ll want to follow the thinnest to thickest rule and apply any other essences, toners or serums before this product. Then you can follow up with any thicker products like creams or moisturizers.
For example, here is the order you would use:
- Cleanser
- Toner
- Essence
- Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum
- Moisturizer
- Sunscreen
Who Should Use Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum
The Klairs Soothing Serum is designed for all skin types, but its especially good for those with dehydrated skin. This serum is super hydrating so I think it would be great for those with oily and combination skin as well and you could even use it as your sole moisturizer.
Although the product claims to be soothing, I don’t find that it lives up to its claims, so if you have sensitive skin and are looking to help with calming redness and irritations, I don’t think this is the product for you. However, it’s super hydrating and plumping, so if that’s what your after then definitely check this one out!
Is Klairs Soothing Serum Good For Acne?
While this serum is not designed to treat or prevent acne, it can help to keep the skin hydrated and the skin barrier strong which can play a role in acne formation. That said, this serum does not contain any active ingredients that are going to treat acne, but it does have a few calming ingredients that can help to reduce inflammation and redness associated with breakouts.
This product can be a great addition to an anti-acne routine to keep those exfoliating products from drying out the skin. It’s lightweight enough for oily and acne-prone skin types and can help to reduce any redness associated with acne or pimples.
Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum Review: Wrap Up
If you are looking for an instant boost of hydration and plumping, the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum is a great option. It has rave reviews for its ability to quench dry skin and make it look healthier overall. However, if you have sensitive skin that is easily irritated, this might not be the best choice for you – though it still may work well for other skin types. Have you tried the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum? What did you think?
