The Klein Tools ET140 is an affordable, non-invasive, pinless moisture meter used to test moisture levels in drywall, masonry, hardwood, and softwood. The ET140 pinless moisture meter emits electromagnetic waves into the building material being tested to measure moisture up to ¾” deep without damaging the surface of the material. The Klein non-contact moisture meter gives both a digital read out as well as a LED indication of moisture content. In addition, the moisture meter provides both audible and visual alarms for moisture detection. The ET140 is perfect for restoration experts and building inspectors.

Overview

Pinless meters are easy to use and capable of quickly measuring a large surface area for a more complete moisture content picture. They usually measure moisture as a percentage or apply a relative scale for comparison. Moisture meters are utilized by the building-industry and water damage restoration consultants to determine the moisture content of a wide range of materials found in the built environment, such as gypsum board, drywall or interior finish plaster. Using a moisture meter to locating high moisture within buildings is essential in locating leaks that may not be visible to the eye.

The Klein non-contact moisture meter is easy to read with a bright reverse contrast display that shows the percentage of moisture and a nine LED bar graph that goes from green to red when there is a high moisture content. The Mode button allows you to easily toggle through the different material types to select the correct surface material you are testing. In areas that the display is difficult to see, the hold button allows you to lock the current reading on the display until the hold button is pressed again. The meter will automatically power off after 10 minutes of inactivity.

Klein Tools has also made sure that its moisture device can withstand the rough use on construction site. The Klein ET140 is designed and tested to withstand a drop from a height of 6.6 feet. The body of the meter is not going to break into pieces like a regular moisture meter with plastic casings even if it slips from your hands.
