Lloyd’s Register – Quality Assurance Engineering Schemes

Lloyd’s Register’s quality schemes provide you with an alternative approach for product assurance. It enables the assessment of a product’s quality during the different stages of manufacture, scoping the complete supply chain through a combination of product and system auditing while applying quality assurance principles.

Quality Assurance Engineering Schemes audits are undertaken less frequently but in greater depth, and our technical expertise will highlight opportunities to improve quality further. Once approved on a scheme, you’ll have all the paperwork in hand to issue the product certificates directly to further streamline the process. Our schemes include:

QAM

The Quality Assurance Scheme for Machinery (QAM) is a flexible scheme that allows for a mix of approaches for surveying machinery components and equipment products without direct survey.

Under the QAM Scheme, LR will consider the extent to which manufacturing processes and control procedures ensure conformity with the applicable requirements of LR’s Rules, technical specifications and any other applicable standards or codes.

QAL

The Quality Assurance Scheme for Lifting Appliances (QAL) is an alternative to direct survey and certification of lifting appliance components and equipment.

Under the QAL Scheme, LR will consider whether manufacturing processes and control procedures ensure conformity with applicable requirements of LR’s Rules, technical specifications and any other applicable standards or codes.

MQS

The Materials Quality Scheme (MQS) is a flexible, customised scheme designed for material manufacturers who fulfil high-quality criteria and applicable requirements of LR’s rules, technical specifications and any other applicable standards or codes.
