The Manchester United right-back has been great since moving to Old Trafford and these stats prove he is better than Alexander-Arnold.

Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi. Salah vs Hazard. There are eternal debates which persist in the world of football and are constantly scrutinised. A recently emerging debate has been the argument about Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka vs Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Both are young emerging English right back playing for two of the biggest clubs in England so there is no surprise they are being compared to each other. Both are of course hugely talented and are set to have very successful careers ahead of them.

Yet this season in terms of defensive contributions Aaron Wan-Bissaka has stood head and shoulders above the Liverpool number 66.

Wan-Bissaka has made an incredible 62 tackles this season compared to just 24 tackles made by Alexander-Arnold. In addition Wan-Bissaka has also made four more interceptions than Alexander-Arnold with 28 over 24 and won a 101 duels compared to just 43 duels won by the Liverpool right back. While Alexander-Arnold has also lost more duels with 64 compared to just 56 duels lost by Wan-Bissaka. All the above stats are via the Premier League’s official page on Wan-Bissaka and Alexander-Arnold’s profile.

It is clear Wan-Bissaka is by far the more superior defender when it comes to him and Alexander-Arnold and the Manchester United right back deserves more recognition for the fantastic form he has been in this season.

While of course Alexander-Arnold may contribute more from set-pieces for Liverpool offensively in terms of who the better defender is Wan-Bissaka wins by a country mile.

It will be interesting to see how Wan-Bissaka grows and develops under Solskjaer but having made great strides already the former Crystal Palace defender’s offensive contributions will soon improve with time. After all, Wan-Bissaka played further forward in his academy days at Palace which means he is more than capable of providing an offensive threat.

What do you think who is better Alexander-Arnold or Wan-Bissaka?
