The Good

Now it’s important to point out that though fans are upset over the understandably poor animation, episode 9 of the 6th season actually has a lot of good going for it. Though it won’t be as well recognized compared to the flaws of the episode, the voice acting and music for this episode were on point and did an excellent job, at times, of bringing the manga to life.

Not only that but the animators also included a small easter egg for manga fans, where they animated both the official cover of volume 29 and the recently revealed scrapped version. Both versions of the cover were included and animated in this episode’s credits, which was definitely a nice touch.

The Bad

Now with that said, let’s get into the reasons fans are upset. The poor animation. Simply put this episode was unable to properly adapt the action scenes from the manga at all and felt lacking at times.

Many shots felt empty as there were no proper showings of power or energy like the manga did.

Seeing as how this is one of the bigger fights of the series and has quite an influence on the way the rest of the series plays out, it’s understandable that fans are as upset as they are. I mean the best battle sequence of the entire arc was just entirely butchered.

Even a fan-animated version of the most anticipated fight looks a lot better compared to what fans got officially.

Hopefully, future episodes are better animated and this was just a one-time thing due to high demand! Whatever the case we alongside the rest of the MHA fanbase will be watching closely at the next few episodes to see if this trend of animation continues or gets better.

On the other side of the coin, Studio Bones’ other ongoing anime project Mob Psycho 100 season 3 is getting one after another solidly animated episodes. Mob Psycho 100 proves what Studio Bones is capable of.

Where To Read

You can read MHA officially and for free on both Viz Media and Manga Plus. Of course, you can also read the series through the recently launched Manga Plus app. Please try to read the series officially, as this supports both the author and allows them to create more stories.

As for the anime, you can officially watch both the dubbed and subbed versions of My Hero Academia every Saturday on both Crunchyroll and Funimation!

That’s all we’ve got for you right now, but let us know what you think about the whole thing. Did you notice the lower-quality animation or were you too busy watching Shigaraki and Deku finally throw down? Let us know what your thoughts and comments down in the comment section below!
