NBA Trade Rumors: Patience wearing thin for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander?
NBA Trade Rumors: There are whispers that patience may be wearing thin for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Could he be the next star to ask for a trade?
Looking around the NBA landscape, it’s tough to predict when or where the next disgruntled star will come. However, there is an interesting situation that is taking place in Oklahoma City with the Thunder that should be kept an eye on. And it revolves around Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Over the past few years, SGA has been one of the more exciting young players in the league. And it seemed that his place with the Thunder was strong and that he was fully entrenched with the rebuilding Thunder.
Though, according to a recent report, there are now whispers that SGA’s patience with the losing could be wearing thin. If this report is indeed accurate, it would be difficult to blame SGA. He’s been a great professional for the Thunder over the past few seasons and has been a budding star.
He’s everything you want in a franchise player but simply hasn’t been on a franchise where they could fully showcase him. If he was in a bigger market that was more successful, there’s no question that SGA would be a bigger name and a brighter star by this point in his career.
And perhaps that’s something that is already beginning to weigh on his mind.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a blossoming star
Over the past few seasons, SGA has been the bright spot for an otherwise rebuilding franchise. So far this season, SGA is averaging 32 points, six assists, and five rebounds per game on 54 percent shooting from the field. Oh, and he’s still getting better.
He just turned 24 years old during the summer and you can make a legitimate argument that SGA hasn’t even hit his ceiling yet. If, and that’s a big “if,” SGA does get to a point where he does hit the trade market, there’s no question that the Thunder would be able to carve out a big haul in any deal.
This is not to say that SGA is going to be traded or is on the verge of demanding a trade but it’s certainly something to keep in mind. And if the losing does continue for OKC, the noise is only going to grow louder.
