NEW Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Ultrawear Shine Liquid Lip Colour

Where I got it

Around late October Farmers sent me an email and posted me a pamphlet about an exclusive Beauty Club sale for 5 days. We were offered 15% off across the entire beauty and fragrance area except for a couple of brands (Chanel, Dior, The Ordinary, Glasshouse Fragrance, etc.). There were also gift with purchases and Double Points for the brands that were not 15% off.

I always make use of the chance for double points to get Chanel or Dior products, because that is pretty much as good as it gets in Farmers. Every $250 spent gets you a $20 voucher so with double points, you only need to spend $125 to get $20 voucher. Just a tip on spending your vouchers during double points promo is not to use it because you won’t accumulate that $20 worth of spending to points. You are missing out on $40 worth of points if you use your voucher now. Wait for the double points to finish and then use it afterwards.

Anyway, I was going to go in and pick up the Ultra Liquid Lip Colour, but I saw this section of new Lip Colour and I was drawn to it! There were 20 shades in total. I tested a couple of shades out and I was tossing between 61 and 65 and I ended up picking 61 up for $64.00.

What I got

This is the NEW Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in shade 61 Continuous. The first liquid lipstick by CHANEL uniting shine and ultrawear in a satiny finish. Lifeproof and water-resistant, it delivers satiny shine, colour and hydration for 12 hours.* Its unique, ultra-comfortable texture provides the lips with a sensation of softness and suppleness for 10 hours.

How I find it

The packaging is an ombré glass bottle showing the colour of the lip colour at the bottom and black on the top. It has a doe-foot applicator. Shade 61 Continuous is a bright beige with a pinky tone.

It applies like a creamy liquid lipstick with a little bit of streakiness, but once you glide the applicator all around to distribute the lipstick evenly, it all blends in nicely. The colour is gorgeous, a little lighter than I usually go for, but it was a change for me. The formula doesn’t “dry down” immediately and it does have that shiny finish once you applied it, but it does fade overtime, especially when it full dries down.

My lips felt really comfortable for at least 3 hours of wear and whilst it does transfer slightly, it was no big issue. After about the 4 hour mark, my lips started to feel a little dry and I can feel the lipstick getting stuck in my lip lines and it certainly looks quite dry. I need to remove it and reapply.

The liquid lipstick was easy to remove with just tissues with maybe a little bit of lip balm when you don’t have makeup remover with you. Otherwise, an oil-based makeup remover will get it off effortlessly.

Overall

I’m glad I picked this shade, but it is a formula that I wouldn’t pick something too dark or too different from my natural lip colour. Otherwise it will fall into the lines of my lips and look really bad. If I do get something darker, I just need to be mindful to check in front of the mirror and fix things up when required.

That’s kind of the downside of longwear liquid lipsticks I guess. I do prefer my creamy and sheer lipstick and tinted lip balms for comfort. Also lip tints for long-wearing colour.

In summary, this has not been my favourite lip formula from Chanel, but long-wear liquid lipsticks are not my favourite type of lip products anyway. So I won’t be purchasing more shades unfortunately.
