What does Obagi Professional-C Serum do?This professional-grade facial serum is a concentrated anti-aging serum that has a generous amount of vitamin C and a combination of moisturizing ingredients. This potent combination provides redeeming and rejuvenating qualities for your skin care. It has moisturizing qualities for your skin, enhances skin brightness, evens skin tone, and reduces the signs of aging.

Which Obagi Professional-C Serum should I use?
Your skin type will help determine what kind of Obagi C Serum you should use. If you have any reason to believe that a skin care product might be too harsh for you, such as if you have dry skin or sensitive skin, dip your toes in first with the Obagi Professional-C Serum 10% until you know how the product will affect you. After some time you can gradually increase to the Obagi Professional C-Serum 15% and Obagi Professional C-Serum 20% options as your skin grows more accustomed to this powerful ingredient. If you have normal skin, combination skin, or oily skin, feel free to start with either the 15% or 20% to give you the look you desire.

Is this product oil-free and non-comedogenic?Yes! Obagi Professional C-Serum 20% is oil-free and non-comedogenic.

Is this serum hydroquinone-free?
Yes! This serum is completely free of hydroquinone.

How long does this serum stay potent?
Vitamin C serums like this one have a two-year shelf life unopened, and once you open it you should use the product within 6-9 months to receive optimal benefits.

How would I incorporate this into my Obagi Nu-Derm routine? AM or PM?
When introducing Obagi Professional-C Serum 20% into your Obagi Nu-Derm routine, we suggest applying it as the first treatment step in your routine both morning and night, right after cleansing and toning your skin. You can then follow with Obagi Nu-Derm Clear FX #3 and the rest of your NuDerm FX regimen

Is it ok for the Obagi Professional C-Serum to look yellow, or is my product damaged?

It is normal for Obagi Professional-C Serum 20% to look yellow once the facial serum is exposed to oxygen in the air. Over time, it gradually turns to a darker yellow or even a sunset orange color. While it does seem strange, this change in color does not ultimately affect the product’s efficacy. We recommend that you try storing your Obagi Professional-C Serum at room temperature and away from any direct sunlight.

Is this serum part of a line of Obagi products?Yes! Obagi has crafted an entire line of Professional-C products that are designed to complement and work with another for glowing, youthful skin. From dry skin to oily skin, our professional products do it all.

When a product promises to offer skin lightening or skin brightening, what does that mean? What is the difference?Lightening creams work to reduce the melanin pigmentation in a particular area on the skin and are best used for a limited amount of time. Brightening is more about increasing radiance and restoring natural vibrancy to dull or aging skin. Skin brightening products, like Obagi’s Professional-C Serum, are designed to remove dead skin cells to reveal radiant, glowing skin.

Is Obagi good for wrinkles?
In many cases, yes! Many Obagi skincare products, including our facial serums like the Professional C-Serum, are designed to address the early signs of aging, like fine lines, dark spots, loss of elasticity, to reveal a more youthful appearance.

Why does Vitamin C tingle my face?
While Vitamin C is loved for its gentle effects, it may cause some tingling if you have sensitive skin—that’s just the serum scrubbing away dead skin cells. Be careful to apply any products with Vitamin C separate from any exfoliating scrubs or acids, like benzoyl peroxide, as this may irritate your skin further.

However, if you begin experiencing a burning sensation or severe irritation, start with the Obagi Professional-C Serum 10% applied every other night. As your skin gets used to the formula over time, your skin will be conditioned to the serum and you can work your way up to a higher dose.
