Omnia Bvlgari perfume – a fragrance for women 2003
This is the kind of scent I should be head over heels for, I love warm spicy scents and i’ve been on the hunt for something that showcases white chocolate, a smell I particularly like. There is however something slightly off about this to me. Something about the combination of the two that misses the mark.
forgive the pun but I believe it boils down to temperature. These ingredients would be divine melting together in a hot mug, but out of a cool glass bottle they fall a little flat. The milkiness in the base dilutes the spiciness and stifles the warmth, which much of the character of this scent depends on to work. The end result is an indulgent treat that’s been left out a little too long. A tepid latte, or runny ice cream.
The orange and ginger are shy on me, almost to the point of absence. Like a twist of orange peel hooked on the rim of a glass. Cinnamon is shoulder to shoulder with the masala chai and white chocolate but feels damp and a little dull. sandalwood is also quite prominent but the way it blends with the spices feels a bit muddy, they don’t really set each other off here like In other fragrances where they bring each other to life. Maybe if the pepper came through on my skin a bit more? I can’t stop feeling like there just isn’t enough heat here. Instead of warm spicy I’m getting lukewarm spicy.
Perhaps it was my expectations being too high but while this isn’t necessarily bad, I can’t shake the feeling of this being like a warm treat that just doesn’t hit the spot. hot chocolate that’s a little too watery, coffee with almond milk when you wanted full cream, or as I mentioned before, a chai latte that’s going cold.
I still love white chocolate as a note but the way it’s used here just isn’t what I’m looking for and I feel the fragrance as a whole suffers for it. it’s not quite what I wish it was or think it could be. there’s definite potential here to be an interesting and lovable scent and maybe that’s what frustrates me the most. that ultimately it’s just kind of…meh. honestly when i wear it, finding myself constantly wishing it was more than it is makes me get a bit sick of it.
the scent itself aside, it performs fine in terms of longevity and projection. it’s pretty average on both counts. i would say it’s not a safe blind buy because it doesn’t really live up to its own description. the list of notes may tell a certain story but it’s not really the story that comes out of the bottle. speaking of which i am not a fan of the bottle design, not just because of how it looks but it actually impacts its function. it’s impractical and makes for inconsistent application and since it has no lid and such a large area of the bottle functions as the sprayer it’s not bag or travel friendly.
personally speaking i find this product as a whole to be a swing and a miss. if any of my friends try it and like it, it’s theirs.
