Pharrell Rocks a Fancy Lady Jacket and Kills It ‘Cause, Well, He’s Pharrell | GQ

When it comes to Pharrell’s style, please take all previously understood rules and chuck them out the window. Pharrell does not give a f*ck, in the best of all possible ways when it comes to what he puts on. Somehow, he makes the craziest fashion moves look effortless—and really damn good—on a consistent basis.

So what did the iconoclast do to both surprise and impress us today? Well, he threw on a women’s Chanel tweed jacket over a pair of ripped up jean shorts, a baseball cap, and some black Adidas NMD shoes of his own design. Pharrell is no stranger to wearing clothing designed for women, he’s a big fan of the French label Céline (he’s worn the brand’s shoes in this magazine and one of its $67,000 fur coats) and he’s even worn clothing from the brand in the past. Rules? What of them?

The bouclé wool jacket with a rounded collar and gold buttons is one of Chanel’s more iconic pieces, and is usually comes as part of a skirt suit, so Williams ditched the skirt (not that he couldn’t have worn it, had he wanted it to, right Jaden?) and does some expert-level flexing by pairing it with some ripped-up jeans and sneakers. It’s one of those things that, in this age of exceptionally dressed men, proves that Pharrell is still an utter original. Does it help to be Pharrell to pull something like this off? Sure. But that doesn’t mean anything’s stopping you from doing the same (except, of course, the fact that Chanel jackets start at around $4K).

It just goes to show that, increasingly, the concept of men’s or women’s clothing is falling by the wayside. And if your heart desires a Chanel jacket then don’t let a silly thing like gender hold you back.
