End of Life Lab

Caring for people in the last stage of life is a multi-faceted process, addressing their physical, social, emotional and spiritual well-being. Quality of dying is thereby quality of life in its last stage. Quality of life may sometimes require interventions that create a tension field with our (societal) value to ensure length of life when we can. Design for the end of life faces this and other dilemmas. During this encounter we will explore how designers can position themselves and face these dilemmas in designing for End of Life.

Active Assistive Devices

The need of power assist products emerges frequently at work environments that require a high amount of physical workload. Examples of these environments could be healthcare or situations in which the person itself is physically limited (revalidation). Electric supportive trolleys, hoists or wheelchairs are examples of products that have proven to be successful in addressing this need. They are some examples of the products showcased in the portfolio of Indes, and are being developed in close collaboration with several Universities and knowledge institutes.

Fieldlab UPPS Health & Sense of Home

The goal of the Fieldlab Sense of Home is to initiate and support projects for developing ultra-personalized products and services (UPPS) that help to make the nursing home feel more like home. Co-creation between SME’s, the aging population and healthcare professionals is key to this.
