…the original HomePods are able to achieve a level of bass the new ones simply can’t.

I don’t do Atmos or any other effects, just music.

I’m going to keep doing comparisons, in case the new ones need a break-in period or in case Apple fixes the issue with a firmware update. I’m hoping they improve.

But as they sound today: I cannot recommend the second generation HomePods to anyone who still owns originals. The sound quality… focuses on vocals to the point of distraction. It reminds me of sound bars that “upscale” stereo to surround sound.

Fingers crossed for new firmware—but keeping the boxes handy.
