Review: Redbubble part I – Medusa Dollmaker
Hello medunauts!
This is another review from your friendly neighborhood Medusa. Today: REDBUBBLE (Part I, I had to split the post due its lenght).
I delayed this one because I wanted to have time to try several products before writing a complete review. I didn’t had the chance to try EVERY product from Redbubble, but this will help to figure out how the overall Redbubble quality is. As I always say, I try to keep it honest; I purchased with my own money some items, some others were gifts. No one pays me for writing this.

How it works
Redbubble is an online shop (creative community and marketplace in its own words) that allows you to buy and sell a large variety of designs in a vast range of products. About the shipping: “We ensure your goodies will be printed in the most convenient location for your delivery address, ensuring fast and affordable shipping services!” True, the shipping is affordable and the products are printed in several locations. So shipping it’s not a thing to worry about.
As designer, you can set your own % of commision for almost each product. It’s set to 20% by default. The control panel it’s easy to use. You can upload a single file, or go to every product to update it with another file. Also, some products will allow you to select a background color, and several setting options to create patterns (for example, for leggins) and size. Some products share file with other ones, like pillows and tote bags. You can activate and deactivate your designs. Even make calendars!

THE SELLER TIP: If you want to sell through Redbubble, you better take your time to write good product tittles, descriptions and HASHTAGS (up to 50). Redbubble community is big, so you want the customers find your work among more than 400.000 artists and designers. Remember the importance of tagging properly seasonal designs such as Valentine’s, Christmas and Halloween.
THE CUSTOMER TIP: Try several combination of words in the search box, so you can find the products that suit your taste (for example: FATHERS DAY T-SHIRT, DAD TEES, MEN FUNNY CLOTHING, etc, not only one word). Also, subscribe to Redbubble to receive deals and interesting discounts. It’s always good to purchase something with a nice 20% off.

THE PRODUCTS
The T-shirts (Womens and mens classic T-shirts)

I remember years ago how much average were Redbubble T-shirts. I mean, they were cool and the designs were printed clear and fine, but the printing quality wasn’t outstanding compared to other DGT printing online shops. Also, their product mockups were old fashioned and didn’t show properly how the product may look over a real model.
With time, some DGT printing sites got mad skills and turned out hard to beat. So definitely T-shirts weren’t the strong point on Redbubble (I repeat: compared to others like Neatoshop that prints and fullfills in-house, so they control first hand the printing process quality) and something similar happens with Society6. BUT. BUT BUT keep reading.
But in recent years I noticed some improvements that made me happy. Not only they updated the uploader and the range of products, but they added real models for the mockups, so designers and customers get the idea of how the garments look IRL. Also, the designs looks less darken over dark garments, and the print looks sharpen than before. The printing surface looks bigger (something that is relevant to me, specially wearing big sizes).

And SUPER IMPORTANT: They are ethically sourced, as it’s stated in the product description of each T-shirt.
So yes, I would keep recommending to you to sell your designs as T-shirts in Redbubble, and I will recommend customers to get their fancy tees on Redbubble as well. Maybe they aren’t the best tee printers (sorry, that award goes to Neatoshop), but now they are one of the good ones and you will not get dissapointed. Soft and light tees!

Contrast Tanks
The contrast tanks are one of the recent additions to the womens Redbubble catalog. These tanks are a –much needed in the Redbubble catalogue– versatile garment that can be informal or elegant, depending how you wear it.
They have a solid black or white back panel (it’s up to you), and an all-over sublimated front that gives a lot of possibilities to designers, and will please customers.
Why this girl is so pretty and joyful, I don’t know
Features:
FRONT PANEL: Slightly sheer 100% Polyester chiffon with silky handfeel. Sublimated.
BACK PANEL: Option of black or white 96% Polyester/ 4% Elastane soft jersey
The feeling is soft and flowy, and the fit is loose and comfy. When I received it I was surprised at the sheer fabric in the front panel. It is an elegant and sexy twist in the garment, and not too much revealing. The collar cut is elegant and isn’t too much narrow or too much wide.
I think contrast tanks are a favourite of mine in my wardrobe, and I cannont stop recommending it enough to you, customers, seriously give it a try. It’s a really elegant gift with a nice fit. And to you, designers! Play with the all-over printed panel, let your designs take all the fabric!
The A-Line dresses
Oh noes it’s the pretty girl again, she’s so nice
I’m used to skater dresses so I hesitated to get it, but I had to try this one out. It has an original vibe that can be worn as an informal dress with sport shoes or an fancy one.
When I received it I was a bit deceived at first. The colors where ok, the huge art print over the garment was amazing and detailed, and it was an all-over print! YES, all over the dress, back and front. But when I touched it… the fabric was so thin. I never had a dress with a fabric like that. So I hesitated if I grabbed a good deal or just a weak dress.
WELL, I’m glad I was wrong. Holy sh**, why I didn’t purchased it before. Seriously, this is way too comfy. The fabric is thin but that doesn’t mean weak as I anticipated. It’s light, soffffffft and comfortable. When I put this on, in the middle of the heavy spanish summer, it was like wearing breeze. Omg it feels so good. Once you get used to the fabric and its softness, you will want to use it everyday. I dont recommend it for heavy winters (unless you use it with long sleeve tees and leggins under this garment, and a nice knitted jacket over it) but definitely I will recommend this dress + knitted jacket for spring, and it alone with sandals or sport shoes for summer. FAVOURITE. OF. MINE. I prefer it to the graphic dresses, the long unfitted T-shirt look is not much my cup of tea.

Leggins
Redbubble leggins are way too cool. The print is amazing and the leggins are light but sturdy and comfortable. They fit to your body perfectly if you pick the right size and the print is detailed.
I just made a mistake. My leggins are way too tightened. I can explain this. After few uses, the sewing started to loose a bit BECAUSE MY BOOTY AND CHUBBY LEGS, you know. I’m a 2XL size and ordered the XL because there was no bigger size and wanted so badly my Hecate leggins. So the leggins are OK if you get the proper size, good quality and the sewing is strong, but it doesn’t do miracles. I will suggest Redbubble to add at least 1 size up. Big girls also do yoga and stuff.

Relaxed fit T-shirts
I didn’t had the chance to take photos of this one, but gonna tell my experience anyway. Grabbed my Botanicals: Peonies Vintage relaxed fit T-shirt in cream color to have a romantic and versatile tee. This wasn’t my first ride with the relaxed fit T-shirts: I purchased first one in black with my design “Serpentine” on it and I was so pleased with it that I had to repeat.
The fit is flowy and loose, the collar is open wide (my favourite collar kind) and it’s soft and comfy. I even tried this at yoga and it was soooo perfect. Don’t worry if you’re a big size like me, they are oversized!
In my opinion, the only thing that can make this garment better is to make the print bigger, since the fabric offers a lot of space to host huge prints.

Zip Hoodies

Aaand sorry because I have no photos of this one as well.
You can select where your print goes: back or front. My boyfriend picked a black hoodie with back print of my design “All the powers of hell”. When it arrived, we were amazed. The print was big on the back, it was kinda badass.
But well, not everything on every shop is awesomesauce. The print over the back of the zipper hoodie washed off after some months of use, so it faded and it’s almost unrecognizable. That’s not cool, Redbubble. My boyfriend keeps using it because the fabric and the fit are comfy, but we don’t know why it faded that way so we’re a bit dissapointed with the hoodies.
So choose wisely before getting one from Redbubble. Not everybody is having same kind of issue with their hoodies, bear that in mind, but I cant hide we were far from satisfied with ours (also, this isn’t the first issue I had with hoodies. I have a non-zip hoodie from other shop that faded as well. That needs an apart review) Nobody is perfect, so I know they will improve this.

PROS: Promos, discounts and wide range of products to choose from. Packaging.
CONS: Weak point on hoodies, and lacks of big sizes in some products as leggins. Their previous weak point were T-shirts but they improved.

Hoy: REDBUBBLE (Parte I, Tengo intención de dividir la entrada debido a su longitud).
He retrasado este porque quería tener tiempo para probar varios productos antes de escribir una revisión completa. No he tenido la oportunidad de probar TODOS los productos de Redbubble, pero esto os ayudara a haceros una idea sobre la calidad en general de Redbubble. Como siempre digo, yo procuro hacer esto honestamente; he comprado con mi propio dinero algunos elementos, otros fueron regalados.Nadie me paga por escribir esto.
¡Allá vamos!
Como funciona
Redbubble es una tienda online (una comunidad creativa y un mercado según sus propias palabras) que te permite vender una gran variedad de diseños en un gran rango de productos. Sobre los envios: “Aseguramos que vuestros diseños serán impresos en la ubicación más apropiada para la dirección de envio, ¡asegurando servicios rapidos y baratos!” Cierto, los envios son baratos y los productos pueden ser impresos en distintas ubicaciones. Así que los envios no son algo por lo que preocuparse.
Como diseñador, puedes establecer tu propio porcentaje de comisión para casi cada producto. Está configurado al 20% de forma predeterminada. El panel de control es fácil de usar. Puedes cargar un único archivo o ir a cada producto para actualizarlo con otro archivo . Además, algunos productos le permitirán seleccionar un color de fondo y varias opciones de configuración para crear patrones (por ejemplo, para leggins) y tamaño. Algunos productos comparten archivo con otros, como almohadas y bolsas. Puedes activar y desactivar tus diseños. ¡Incluso hacer calendarios!

EL CONSEJO PARA EL VENDEDOR: Si quieres vender a través de Redbubble, es mejor que te tomes tu tiempo para escribir buenos títulos de producto, descripciones y HASHTAGS (hasta 50) . La comunidad de Redbubble es grande, asi que quieres que los clientes encuentren tu trabajo entre los más de 400.000 artistas y diseñadores. Recuerda la importancia de etiquetar adecuadamente los diseños estacionales, como San Valentín, Navidad y Halloween.
EL CONSEJO PARA EL CLIENTE : Prueba varias combinaciones de palabras en el cuadro de búsqueda, para encontrar los productos que mejor se adapten a tu gusto (por ejemplo: CAMISETA DEL DÍA DE PADRES, CAMISAS PARA PAPÁ, ROPA DIVERTIDA DE LOS HOMBRES, no sólo una palabra). Además, suscríbete a Redbubble para recibir ofertas y descuentos interesantes. Siempre es bueno comprar algo con un 20% de descuento.

LOS PRODUCTOS
Las camisetas (Camisetas clasicas para mujeres y hombres)
Lo siento por las arrugas jeje. Camiseta “Relojes de Mariposa” por Hittouch
Recuerdo años atrás como de normalitas eran las camisetas de Redbubble. Quiero decir, que eran frescas y los diseños eran impresos claros y definidos, pero la calidad de impresión no era excepcional en comparación con otras tiendas DGT impresión en línea. Además, sus modelos de productos eran anticuados y no mostraban correctamente cómo el producto quedaba sobre un modelo real.
Con el tiempo, algunos sitios de impresión DGT consiguieron calidades increibles y resultaban difíciles de vencer. Así que definitivamente las camisetas no eran el punto fuerte de Redbubble (repito: comparado con otros como Neatoshop que imprimen y finalizan ellos mismos, por lo que controlan de primera mano la calidad del proceso de impresión) y sucede algo similar con la Society6. Pero en los últimos años he notado algunas mejoras que me hacen feliz . No sólo actualizaron el cargador y la gama de productos, sino que agregaron modelos reales para las composiciones, por lo que los diseñadores y los clientes tienen una idea de cómo las prendas se ven en la vida real. Además, los diseños se ven menos oscurecidos sobre las prendas oscuras y la impresión se ve más nítida que antes . La superficie de impresión parece más grande (algo que es importante para mí, especialmente con tamaños grandes).

Y SUPER IMPORTANTE: Hacen producción ética, como se indica en la descripción del producto de cada camiseta.
Así que sí, os recomiendo vender vuestros diseños como camisetas en Redbubble, y os recomiendo a los clientes obtened las camisetas de fantasía en Redbubble también. Tal vez no son los mejores imprimiendo camisetas (lo siento, que el premio va a Neatoshop), pero ahora son uno de los mejores y no os decepcionaran. ¡Camisetas suaves y ligeras!

Blusas sin mangas
Las blusas sin mangas son unos de los añadidos recientes al catalogo para las mujeres en Redbubble. Estas blusas son unas -muy necesarios en el catalogo de Redbubble- prendas versatiles que pueden ser informales o elegantes, dependiendo de como lo lleves.
Tienen una espalda negra o blanca (es algo que tu eliges), y un frente sublimado que da muchas posibilidades a los diseñadores, y satisface a los clientes.
¿Por qué esta chica es tan alegre y bonita? Ni idea
Características:
PARTE DELANTERA: La gasa ligeramente escarpada 100% del poliester con tacto sedoso. Sublimado.
PARTE TRASERA: Negro o blanco opcional 96% Poliester/ 4% elastano suave
La sensación es suave y fluida, y el ajuste es suelto y cómodo. Cuando lo recibí me sorprendió la gasa en el panel frontal. Es un giro elegante y sexy en la prenda, y no demasiado revelador . El corte del collar es elegante y no es demasiado estrecho o demasiado ancho.
Creo que los blusas sin mangas son uno de mis favoritos en mi armario, y no puedo dejar de recomendarlos lo suficiente para ti, y para los clientes, en serio dadle una oportunidad. Es un regalo realmente elegante con un toque agradable. ¡Y para vosotros, diseñadores! ¡Jugad con el panel de impresión, deja que tus diseños tomen todo el tejido!
Los vestidos acampanados
Oh no es la chica bonita de nuevo, que maja
Estoy acostumbrada a los vestidos skater, así que dudé en conseguirlos, pero tuve que probarlo. Tiene un ambiente original que se puede usar como un vestido informal con zapatos deportivos o con elegantes.
Cuando lo recibí estaba un poco engañada al principio. Los colores estaban bien, la impresión enorme del diseño sobre la ropa era asombrosa y detallada , ¡y era una impresión completa! SÍ, por todo el vestido, espalda y frente. Pero cuando lo toqué… la tela era tan fina . Nunca tuve un vestido con una tela como esa. Así que dudé si conseguí una buena oferta o simplemente era un vestido débil.
BIEN, me alegro de haber estado equivocada. J**er, por qué no lo compré antes . En serio, esto es demasiado cómodo. La tela es fina, pero eso no significa debilidez como anticipé. Es ligero, suaaaaaave y cómodo. Cuando me puse esto, en medio del pesado verano español, era como llevar vestido una brisa. Omg se siente tan bien. Una vez que te acostumbras a la tela y a su suavidad, querrás usarla todos los días. No lo recomiendo para los inviernos duros (a menos que lo utilices con camisetas de manga larga y leggins debajo de esta prenda, y una bonita chaqueta de punto sobre ella), pero definitivamente voy a recomendar este vestido + chaqueta de punto para la primavera, y solo con sandalias o zapatillas de deporte para el verano. FAVORITO. DE. MI. Lo prefiero a los vestidos con diseño, el estilo de camiseta larga sin ajuste no es mi “taza de té”.

Leggins
Los leggins de Redbubble son demasiado molones . La impresión es increíble y los leggins son ligeros pero resistentes y cómodos. Se ajustan a tu cuerpo perfectamente si escoges el tamaño correcto y la impresión es detallada.
Cometí un error. Mis leggins son demasiado prietos. Puedo explicarlo . Después de unos pocos usos, la costura empezó a ceder un poco POR MI CULO Y PIERNAS GORDITAS, ya sabes. Tengo un tamaño de 2XL y he pedido el XL porque no había un tamaño mayor y yo quería tanto mi “Hecate leggins” . Así que los leggins están bien si pides el tamaño adecuado, son de buena calidad y la costura es fuerte, pero no hace milagros. Voy a sugerir Redbubble para agregar por lo menos un tamaño. Las chicas grandes también hacen yoga y otras cosas.

No he tenido oportunidad de hacer fotos de esta, pero aun así voy a contaros mi experiencia. Adquirí mi Botanicals: Peonies Vintage camiste ancha en un color crema para tener una camiste romantica y versátil. Esta no era mi primera vez con las camisetas anchas: Compré mi primera en negro con mi diseño “Serpentine” en ella y estube tan agusto con ella que he tenido que repetir.
El tallaje es fluido y suelto , el cuello está abierto de par en par (mi tipo de cuello favorito) y es suave y cómodo. Incluso probé esto en yoga y fue tan perfecto. ¡No te preocupes si eres de un tamaño grande como yo, las camisetas son enormes!
En mi opinión, lo único que puede hacer que esta prenda mejor es hacer la impresión más grande, ya que la tela ofrece mucho espacio para albergar enormes diseños.

Sudaderas con capucha

Yyyyyy perdón por que de este tampoco tengo fotos.
Puedes escoger dónde va tu diseño: detrás o delante. Mi novio escogió una sudadera con capucha negra con mi diseño “All the powers of hell”. Cuando llegó, nos quedamos impresionados. La impresión era grande en la espalda, era muy molón.
Pero bueno, no todo en cada compra es molosidad. La impresión en la espalda de la sudadera se fué borrando despues de algunos meses de uso, fué desapareciendo y ahora es casi irreconozible. Eso no mola, Redbubble. Mi novio sigue usandolo porque la tela y el tajalle son comodos, pero no sabemos porqué desapareció así, por lo que estamos un poco decepcionados con las sudaderas.
Así que elije sabiamente antes de comprar uno de Redbubble. No todo el mundo está teniendo el mismo tipo de problema con sus sudaderas, tened eso en cuenta , pero no puedo ocultar que estábamos lejos de satisfechos con la nuestra (también, este no era el primer problema que tenía con las sudaderas. Tengo una sudadera sin cremallera de otra tienda que se desvaneció también. Que necesita una revisión aparte) Nadie es perfecto, así que sé que van a mejorar esto.

CALIFICACIÓN GLOBAL (sobre la ropa): 4/5 ¡Vale la pena comprar!
PROS: promociones, descuentos y una amplia gama de productos para elegir. Embalaje.
CONS: punto débil en sudaderas con capucha, y carece de grandes tamaños en algunos productos como leggins. Su punto débil anterior eran camisetas pero mejoraron.
