Rouge Coco Adrienne Archives – Vikky Anna

As it happened, the other day I found myself perusing around at the Chanel counter in Selfridges. Believe it or not, up until now I’d never owned a Chanel lipstick; I always thought they were over-prized and could never justify spending almost £30 for one lipstick. But the new Rouge Coco, with the hydrating new formula, gorgeous colour ranges, clever shades naming (all shades are named after friends, lovers and artists who inspired Coco Chanel), really intrigued me and there I was swatching away at the Chanel counter.

Now I risk sounding like a snob here but after trying out the Chanel lipsticks, I begin to understand why some people swear by high-end cosmetics. The packaging to start off with just blew me away; elegant, chic, classy and well, very Chanelesque, money already well spent just on the packaging alone in my opinion. Then came the scent and formula; can a lipstick smell this heavenly? There is this soft subtle scent of roses (not the sweet overpowering type), that makes you feel very chic and sophisticated. I came away with two quite different shades; Adrienne and Mademoiselle.

You know me, I can’t resist a good nude shade so Adrienne (on the left) is a very true nude with a slight corally pink undertone. I’d seen this shade before in many tutorials on YouTube (notably ViviannaDoesMakeup in her Makeup Menu video) and it’s just a very flattering nude shade that is so wearable and what I will be carry around with on a day to day basis. The formula is super hydrating, glides on like a dream and sit so comfortably on your lip.

However it’s Mademoiselle (on the right) that stole the show for me. I would never have picked this shade out on my own but the girl at the counter insisted that it is super gorgeous and most people are surprised at how much they love the shade after trying it on. It is a rosewood shade with beautiful deep pink undertone that instead of being too dark, actually softens and flatters the whole look. I can’t explain the genius behind this shade but it’s brightening (so perfect for summer) yet at the same time it also softens your complexion and give you a very soft elegant look.

My advice, if you feel like giving yourself a treat, head over to the Chanel counter and pick up the new Rouge Coco lipstick. A truly indulgence, gratifying experience guaranteed.
